Starter Recommendations - 302/4spd Toploader/Headers

I am finishing up a 302 install with a 4spd toploader, 164T flywheel, and Tri-Y headers. My stock starter is touching the headers and I assume I'll need a mini-starter.

I've looked through the forum but have not found any that match my set up. Several of the aftermarker models (Powermaster, etc.) say they only work with a 5 speed manual. I've read that starters from the mid-90s Mustangs might work--anyone have any experience with this and know if they'll fit the 302/toploader?

This starter is for the late models--would it work?

I think because you have the 164 tooth flywheel your options are a little limited.

If I recall correctly.... (IF) I think you can just switch the starter gear out and that would be the only difference. If you wanted to, you could get a late model starter and have the gear swaped out to a 164 tooth gear.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this... D.Hern or Bnickle ?
