Starter Solenoid Keeps going...

Here are the details. A friend of mine has an '86 capri with a rebuilt '89 GT engine, long tubes, o/r x-pipe, and flows. All of this was installed about three months ago. Recently (about 2 weeks ago) his starter solenoid went, so he replaced and a week later his new one went. He now wants to sell the car and I'm thinking about getting it, but what would cause the solenoid to keep going bad?

If you're referring to the solenoid on the inner fender, I'd purchase one from Ford vs. the aftermarket junk that gets sold everywhere else. If you meant the one on the starter itself, I'd suspect the long tubes.
