I just finished my T-5 swap and once i spliced together the neutral start switch, it started...but hte starter won't disengage...bad as you can imagine. Anyone got any bright idea's?
Did you use a mini starter from a newer 5.0 with the externally mounted solenoid? If you did you have to rewire it differently to the solenoid. Let me know if you did so I can explain the wiring to you.
In a stock application a bad solinoid or more likely a weak battery can cause the starter to stick engaged.... If it was the battery weak you may have fried your soloind contacts inside while it stayed in run.....
The neutral safety switch is not merely an on/off operation... its an ignition circuit on/off with a starter circuit on/off switch. Splicing the wires is not the fix... You need to get out your wiring diagram and rethread the unneeded wiring into the total circuit to disable the function.
If this was a steering coloume mounted ignition switch/key id suggest adjusting it (yes theres an adjustment on some, its on the switch itself not the key) but since im pretty sure 68 was still mounted on the dash id check some wiring out there, have you done more wiring then we know of here??? if you have the solinoid being powered by a "acc" wire then your starter is gonna act like it is......
