Thank you for replying. Mechanical fuel pump and it's not getting fuel from the pump to the fuel filter it's bone dry so carb isn't getting anything.Your carb is not feeding fuel to the engine, look into the throat and pump the throttle to see if it's squirting fuel into the bores.

1985 is the one year that the Mustangs came either carbureted or with CFI (central fuel injection). Carbed cars came with a mechanical fuel pump that physically mounts to the timing chain cover and is driven by an eccentric that is installed on the front of the camshaft timing gear. The CFI cars had two electric pumps. One low pressure pump in the tank and one high pressure pump mounted external to the tank.
Some folks removed the CFI and high pressure pump and used the low pressure pump to feed a carburetor.
