for the value i'd go cobra. sorry.

DEFINITELY! :nice: I'm sorry but SALEEN and ROUSH are WAY over rated. They make great cars, dont get me wrong. But you can get a base S281 for what? $40,000+? Ooooooor u can get an 03 Cobra for $10,000 cheaper and smoke the pants off the saleen any day of the week. The ONLY thing saleens have (as roushs do) is the name. You are basically paying for the name. Which wouldn't personally do unless i was loaded.

STEEDA :) well now we're talking. Its basically a stock GT with some modifications done to it. I have my stock 02 GT and i am going to STEEDA the *BLEEP* out of it. And again, if you are paying for a car that u want to be "rare" (which saleen and roushs aren't in the grand spectrum of things) then get a STEEDA Q400, because there is NOT too many of those around. :nice:

But otherwise, i really would go with a cobra. I know insurance is high, and i dont know what insurance is like for saleens and roushs, but again IMO i would never pay for a name.

Just my $.02:
Saleen s281 -- High resale, collectibility, looks sweet, but have been known to dyno relatively low, and poor customer service?
Roush SIII -- Good resale, good power, best brakes on a stang.
Steeda Q400 -- Low resale, goodbye drivetrain warranty, long delivery time, but optioned to your liking, and they'll get as much power out of it as you want.

I voted Steeda, dustin' off an early-mid '90's Viper made the price and nearly 1 year wait well worth it.

Thanks for all the info and with all your help, I'm probably down to the Steeda, Roush or the SVT Cobra. I decided to not rule out the Cobra (3rd choice)...since the HP and trim level is expected to increase on the new version. I never really liked the Saleen as much as the Roush...so that's why I pick the Roush (2nd choice). As for 1st choice I'm still leaning towards the Steeda, but what is the difference between a Level III and the Q400 Steeda? I know that if you get the Level III with every option and Super Charger it adds right at $24,000 to the price of a GT coupe...but with the Q400, the "sleeper" package starts at about $11,000 extra and claims "400" RWHP - so what's the difference in the Steedas? Also, with the 2003 Q400 the actual numbers tested closer to 425 RWHP...so my question is: Do they strengthen the internals or just bolt on the power adder?

And about the:

...Sorry for the delay...but my other computer got fried by a worm or something!!! :bang:

Anyway - about the: "Steeda Q400 -- Low resale, goodbye drivetrain warranty, long delivery time"

I read where the delay was closer to 4-6 weeks (probably wishful thinking) and also that Steeda claims a 36,000 mile/3-Year "Ford" handled warranty. Is that correct? Thanks.

i havent had too much trouble with customer support, when they actually answer the phone that is.

i dont have any complaints of my car really. i love it, out of all my rides 96gt, 01 ws6, 96 mystic, i like this one the best. people come up to me all the time to ask about the car. a lot of them ask if its real, that kind of bugs me sometimes. theres way too many fake saleens around. i dont know that ive ever seen a fake roush. i guess the only complaint i have about my car is the quality in some spots. i bought the saleen body kit for my 96 and it was horrible quality. i figured on the real cars it would be better. but my rear bumper has a spot that sags in the middle, the left side hangs a little lower in the bottom, my side scoop is coming off. the c pillar is really wavy. these are all little things that arent easy to notice but im a freak about stuff like that. if you go with a saleen look it over good first. i saw them but still overlooked it due to the price i paid and what i got for it, it had a vortech v2 on it when i bought it, full exhaust, and other goodies

I may be kinda bias but to me, the only good Saleen's were the S351's. Those, are with out a doubt, monsters.

Steeda's are cool also but, not quite my taste.

Roush, well, like I said I may be bias since I have a 98 Roush but, I just think their over all build quality and quality of their parts is top notch.

The 380R will pretty much give you all the perks of a S3 without the side exhaust, while still giving you room to grow.
