Steeda Tri-Ax Shifter

Well I went home last weekend and brought back my grandmas SUV so I could bring home a bunch of stuff when I move out of my apartment this weekend, and she has the tiptronic auto in her suv. I have been driving it with that, and I really miss the control I have over the engine, so i've seriously been thinking about getting a tri-ax, but I have a few questions beforehand. On hers, it is the one you tip forward to go up and tip backwards to downshift, hence the name tiptronic (most people get sporttronic and tiptronic confused). This car doesn't let me go into a higher gear if it's not ready, if I put a tri-ax in my stand will this do the same thing? or is it whatever I put it in, thats it, period. Also, is this like a regular standard, with neutral in the center, gears 1 and 3 up top, and 2, 4, and R on the bottom? And when i'm downshifting do I put it in neutral and wait till i'm stopped and put it in first gear? because I have always been told on my standard, to hold the clutch in and keep it in gear, because if i coast in neutral, my seals get blown out easily. Anybody who knows about this, i'd really appreciate the help. Thanks. -Chris

eh probably am......my friend was telling me there was something i could replace the automatic drive selector with which makes it turn into pretty much a standard without a clutch....???? I thought that was the name of it but I guess i'm wrong
