I am trying to avoid having a 75 dollar labor fee to install my amplifier in my 05 gt. I have already built the box and installed it myself but i don't want to have to put in a shotty looking kill switch for the amplifier and would rather hook it up to the remote wire in the radio to kill the power to the amp when i turn the car off. Can anyone tell me where the remote wire is on the factory headunit. I have a Shaker 500. Thanks a ton stangers.

I emailed my buddy that works at Crutchfield for his input. You may be able to find some help here too.

Ok, here is my buddy's answer...word for word...

"There is an 8-pin plug on the back of the radio and it
contains a light green wire with a purple stripe. That
is the amp remote lead. The only problem is that it
may output just 5 volts (instead of the 12 that is
required for an aftermarket amp turn-on). Ford has
been doing this for some time. If it does not work, he
will have to go to an alternate ACC 12 volt source or
add a toggle switch to activate the amp."

Good luck. Hope this helps you.

When i had amps on my stock stereo, i just grabbed power off the switched 12V on the stereo, but you might need a turn on delay relay, if it "thumps" when you turn the car on.
