Stereo/speaker help...

Can someone tell me how to power these??? or a link to help me out??

they have +/_ leads in 2 place...looks like one feeds the woofer and the other the tweeter??

i'm connecting them to a Pioneer supertuner and have 4 channels, so i have that, just not sure how to wire them up??? I still have 2 channels available
Do I need a crossover to power them?? someone mentioned that ??

These are for the winter beater...i got 5" alpines in the door, and 3" alpines in the cab corners.... I was bored and and came across these, so I made some boxes to mount em up...

i would check on the alpine website to see if their supposed to come with a crossover.

Looks like a dual voice coil to me. Go to alpines web page and find the specs (max power, continous rms, what ohm the voil coils are 4 or 2 ohm). Then we can help you out further.

Never mind it has the specs on the 1st pic . O.k it doesn't say or I don't see if it say dual or single voice coil. Find out if you can.

Why did you go with plywood? MDF is much better I would just think hook both + together and both - together and have them connect to one place on the amp or whatever you're going to use to power it. This is the way we used to do it to our subs that had dual voice coils.

That depends all on the amp you use. If you have a dual voice coil speak and each coil is rated at 4ohms by wiring both +'s and both -'s together you lower the ohms to 2 ohm(on the speaker). If the amp you use in not 2 ohm stable the amp will run hotter than normal and may damage it in time.

if you look in the first pic you can see the wire running under the sticker going to the other side, it should only have to be hooked up to the one set of leads.and those boxes look a tad small but they should give good mid bass just the low bass will be cut off .

Thanks guys...I got it. I removed the speakers to try the box for size...while it was apart I hooked up one, and got jack for output...I made a set of jumpers and blam...she came to life...

I have tons of plywood hanging around so i just used that...the box is small, but i didn't want some homey box hanging on the door...
Im just gonna prime em and paint them with that speckle paint or something like that..

I been trying to find a way to get a sub in somehow, but i got jack for room...This will sound good...it sounded good before...Now I got an extra pair of 5.5s to find a home for...

Sucks as I picked up a hi-jacker looking around for some info...somehow i got that "about blank" chit loaded. I hit one site and DAMN I knew it loaded something..puters freaking out bad...

You do not have to have a crossover to run these. You can simply wire the + to both of the + post and same for the -.

But it's a good idea to have a crossover. It will stop low freq. sound from getting to the tweeter, and high from the woofer. I wouldn't run it in parallel w/o a crossover unless you want them to blow soon.

Couple questions guys....I have only done basic stereo 101...

Heard the term crossover, what are they? where/how do you route or wire them? how much? do you need one for each speaker? sizes ?

In relation to the power running to the speaker, where does the CO go??

Well im on vacation for the week, nice fringe bene... so i figure id install the speakers in the truck...hooked it up and it sounded ok....didn't hit as hard as i wanted and got kinda messy with the volume cranked....i actually cracked one of the 3.5 Alpines....
anyway today me and a bud went to score an 8" sub and amp to help out....the guy at the store told me the 6x9 Rs would really out-do a 8" sub..hmmm. so instead I got a 200 watt MTX amp just to drive the 6x9s....I replaced the 3.5 corners with the 5" I took out of the door and just drove them from the deck, kinda like fill-in's, faded back...

Got it buttoned up tonite and WOW...does this thing crank...I cant belive the way it sounds....so crisp and clear and the bass hits hard.... Im gonna blow my freakin ears out now....This sets a new high for Winter beater tunes..

I stashed the amp right in the glove box....

Don't slam the door shut it will hurt....those speakers look like they stick out to were you would break your leg if you slam the door hard enough.

The boxes look big, but they fit perfect...when your in the cab there no where close to you, at least 5" from your leg with the door closed...you feel the air pumping bigtime though...
I made em 2" thick and the magnet just fit the stock opening for a 5.5", it worked out sweet...i had 45 the corners to clear the dash and the window crank...there actually flush with the inside trim...
I had 4 nice Alpines S series in it and you could crank it to like 15 or so til it got messy/bassy....it'll crank to 24 now and be just as crisp, These Type Rs are incredible when powered accordingly....cant' believe the dif the amp made...

Remember...this is a Winter beater, 87 Nissan Hardbody.. Redneck works ...The guy wanted to sell me a 400.00 amp??? It got almost 650.00 into it all ready....
I have some primer and texture paint to do up the boxes so it'll look better when finished...

wytstang..Ya these are fine..you can drop so much $$$ on this stuff its crazy...I like Alpine and have had great luck, so I tend to stick with it....

Chit this is custom...shut the glovebox and ya never know its there...
