I'm considering a Stage V port for my Eaton M112, along with an Accufab throttle body, plenum, and larger MAF on my '99 GT with mods in my signature. I'm guessing I'd have to step up to 60# injectors as well. I'd like to hear absolutely anything and everything you all have to say about the company, products, customer service, results, horror stories/carnage, etc. Post up!!

Thanks in advance,
Chris :nice:

You know what one of the best things about StangNet is?

NO POSI VS STEIG BULL****!

Let's keep it that way :lock:

If you are serious and not just trying to start **** OP, use Google to find the lame drama filled threads, here is a hint they are NOT HERE.

I'm not aware of the "drama" that has ensued over this on another forum, but as long as it doesn't make its way over here, I don't see an issue with leaving this one open for people to talk about their experiences.

You want my thread locked, on what grounds? I've been on this site for a long time now, buddy. I don't come on here to start ****. I have a full time job, a family, and go to graduate school at night. I have better things to do. Do you?

I'm seriously considering all options for upgrading the blower on my termi motor. I'll honestly probably just end up with a Whipple, but, as stated, I'm exploring all avenues. I've checked out SVTP and they sing HIGH praises of Steigemeier. I haven't been on modularfords yet. I posted this question on here because I know certain groups of enthusiasts favor some sites and are loyal. I was hoping to get Stangnet's opinion on my question. Still listening...

I also got my throttle body and plenum ported at the same time. The car performs really well especially after I had it tuned. It put down over 500 on the dyno. Since at the time I couldn't afford an upgraded blower it was a good mod for the price

Sorry man I thought you were one of those douchebags from SVTP trying to bring their drama about Steig and Posi over here. Its already infected Modular Fords and it just a bunch of stupid drama.

My apologies...

Apology accepted! No hard feelings man. Those BS debate threads, or threads that just bash a company or product get old really fast. I know Stangnet is moderated pretty tightly so I figured I might actually get some solid info and experiences out of posting here about Steig. My problem is coming up with $3400 for a twin screw alone, before supporting top end mods. I know "you gotta pay to play," but funds are limited as usual, and I'm just exploring all options.

Still open to any and all info/experiences...

Either way once you get past a stock Eaton you will need supporting mods. You will basically be out of pump, injectors and MAF. So with either a port or twin screw you will need these mods.

With that being said I have installed a few Posi Ports and they have all made great numbers. Better than the Steg ports I have seen around Dallas.

I would suggest running a port and get all the supporting fuel mods for the twin screw then when you want to make more power, sell the port and get the Whipple.

BTW: Tousley Ford sells the Whipple 2.3's for $3109 shipped.

Thanks for the info!

So, let's say I set a power goal with a (future) twin screw of 600/600. Is that kind of power achievable with a Whipple? What size injectors and MAF will give me room to grow? What fuel pump set up is recommended? I have been told that the bottom end of the Cobra is good for a huge amount of power, with the pistons being the weak link that gives up the ghost before the rest of the internals. Would replacing the pistons give me some peace of mind at higher power levels if I wanted to crank the boost up? Am I correct in assuming the pistons are the weak link? What power level is the rest of the bottom end good to with a good tune? Thanks for the help!

Yes.

I would go with 80# FRPP Injectors and just buy a Diablosport MAFIa. The 80# injectors will give you room to grow and run just like stock even with a stock Eaton. They are around $385 from Tousley Ford so about the same as 60's. The MAFIa can be set and increased as needed.

What fuel pump set up is recommended?
It depends on if you want to stay returnless or go with a return style system. I chose to stay with the returnless system and went with the following. Fore Fuel Hat, Twin GT Pumps, Dual FPDM's w/ wire upgrade, -8 line to the rails and a 40 AMP BAP. (I only added the BAP when I went to E85 as it requires more fuel. If you run 93 Octane you will not need it.)

The pistons are not really the weak link. There are plenty of people pushing 800-1000 RWHP or more on stock blocks. So your goals will not even come close to harming it. I am running @ 700 RWHP now with no issues.

The tune and good fuel will be your key to keeping a block in one piece. :nice:

Don't get too greedy when it comes to timing or boost if you do not have enough fuel or octane or you will be replacing the engine with a quickness.

Thanks! All great info! I may be picking your brain a bit in the future, if you don't mind. Do the stock valvetrain components need to be upgraded with that large of a power increase? Do these cars benefit from upgraded cams? I've considered having custom blower cams ground when I do the Whipple swap. Forgive my ignorance with these cars. I'm used to the fox body pushrod 302 world, where you have to replace basically the entire car if you intend on making any real power. In that mindset, 800-1000 horsepower on a stock valvetrain is completely impossible...

I understand. I came from the 302 world myself and everything was new to me. I used to go by 89sleeper on here many years ago and switched my screen name.

Cams really do not pick up much on these cars. They are costly because there are 4 of them and you have to replace all the springs as well. Unless you like the sound of cams it is really not worth it in my book.

The stock valvetrain is fine and will make plenty of power. The only time I ever took my valve covers off was to have them powdercoated. :nice:

You can pick my brain any time you would like. I am always willing to help. :flag:

Thank you so much for the help! It's hard finding basic knowledge on these cars. These 03-04 cars have such a huge following that everyone is an "expert" pushing four digit horsepower numbers (or at least pretend to be experts online, haha). If you post on a site like SVTP asking for basic knowledge you get flamed off pretty quickly. I appreciate you taking the time to enlighten me on some less complex details.

I think I'm going to start building a solid foundation for future upgrades by bringing the fuel system up to par and having a street cage put in. I'm debating upgrading to termi front and rear bumpers, but I'm not sure if I want to get rid of the sleeper effect my car has going on right now. As it sits it looks like a very unassuming stock '99 GT. I've surprised quite a few people when that whine starts getting louder, haha. :nice:
