buddy of mine just bought a 95 5.0 5 speed car for $500. he said the car runs fine and drives fine but said it doesnt pull like it should. said it pulls decent until about 4,000 rpm then theres no more. engine is still running hard, but wont tach anymore. the way he described it " governed ".

i thought an insanly low gear but im sure they dont make a gear that low and also he said 1st isnt short.

any thoughts guys????

thanks

Could be numerous things but i would look first at fuel. Verify correct pressure w/ a guage that you can see at wot or under load. Possibly bad regulator, clogged fuel filter, bad injectors ect.. ect..
Pull the plugs see how their burning, if there fouled or if there fried from running lean, plugs dont lie. Good luck

Time to get out the wallet and do a good tune up: spark plugs, wires, rotor, cap, fuel & air filters.

Dump the codes and fix them. Then go looking for other problems. Most of the time a bad MAF will set code 56 or 66. Most bad tune up items won't set codes. It is just good practice to just replace them unless you are the guy that installed them & know the car's history.
