Oh wow. Always thought 3.73 was the magical gear for AOD. I do plan on going with a shift kit. I would really have to get the car breathing good on the top end to have the car perform well with the 4.10's wouldnt i?
Mine has 3.73's, aftermarket LCA's and UCA's, some bolt-ons, and 275's. And it won't spin em. It just hooks and goes. At least until I hit the squeeze. Then it's 40mph burnouts FTW!
yea at the track spinning almost always means you loose. But my tires are old and crappy and the last time i looked i didnt have any aftermarket suspension mods. (I just bought the car)
Does anyone know if its better to do the axles, and gears at the same time ? IM planning mods to get my mustang motivated.
As long as you're not throwing 4 or 500HP at the rearend you can hold off on the axles for now. I have an 87 with AOD and 4:10, stock axles. Something you may also want to check is your ignition timing and the transmission Throttle valve adjustment. They are supposed to be auto adjusting linkages but sometimes over time, they can get bumped outta whack.
Thanks for the advice about the axles. I wont be anywhere near that amount of power. I am no good at adjusting the TV cable.. i'll probably just have a tranny shop take a look at it.
