Stock h-pipe question....

About a 1 1/2 yr ago, I got an o/r h-pipe to replace my stock one, and have since left the stock in the side yard, uncovered...

When I have to put it on to smog the car in December, am I going to have a problem with the cats being rusted, or little insects making a home in there? I'm not sure what the effect of the elements will have on the cats.. I would hate to try getting it smogged, only to fail and be labeled a gross polluter....

I would have to guess that the cats are ruined. If you were going to keep it outside you should have atleast Duct Taped the ends closed.

So any suggestions?? I guess I could find someone who still has the stock pipe, and trade my o/r with theirs for the day in order to pass smog..

heh my stock h-pipe is also, outside, behind the garage, full of rust and grass.. i guess its dead

But I'm guessing you don't have to smog your car for DMV purposes?? That's probably the condition of mine..

Where do you live? Do they actually do a visual inspection of your exhaust? Do they hook a sniffer up to the exhaust gas?

I'm in CA, and they hook a sniffer to my exhaust tip.. I'm sure my cats are done for, and I really dont want to have to buy a new h or x pipe just to pass smog...
