how far can you take a set of stock heads???what can you do with them as far as modding (rr's and such) and porting, and how good do modded stock heads do with daily divers???what can i get out of them with my intake and say an e-cam or comparable???thanx all :hail2:

Hi... stock heads will allow over 400 HP on stock valve size... when done correct!! there is more in them with larger valves and deeper bowl and port work... but the cost is going to be PAST as set of aftermarket heads !! IF you want a low 12 sec "stock" 5.0 n/a then ported heads... or add some boost or spray and you will have a low 11 sec ride!!

Any head will respond killer to port/bowl and performance valve job.. the add'l power is a matter of the money in the pocket!! but a 12 sec ride is do able on ported E7s and the FMS cam you suggested!! and usually those mods are less than a set of aftermarket heads... use the other money for the suspension and induction... you'll be money ahead..cool??

Just me......................

I have a set of unported stock heads (set of valves), on a stock bottem end, with stock suspension and only a Cobra intake a bolt ons, running mid 12s!

As far as what can be done, I would say stock heads NA could easily go deep 11s. Port them, larger valves, mil them, good valve job and they can make great power.

What valves are you running? Nice times.

ok i'll admit i am an idiot when it comes to a 5.0 valve train and heads (probably one of the most important areas, i know)...prbably the only other area besides electrical that my knowledge is limited on...what is a valve job and how much does it cost?? easy hard to do yourself?? where do roller rockers come into play??

A valve job is where a machinist cuts angles on the back of your valves and valve seats on your heads so that they meet square. A good valve job can also help flow. Not sure how much mine charged me, not a whole lot. You can use roller rockers for any application. If you have the money, get a set. They are more accurate, help valve stem wear, and reduce friction for some extra ponies.
