stock heads/springs

you guys may remember i had the 89 that wouldnt rev past 3500. i was told maybe the springs were bad, but with a stock cam why wouldnt the stock springs work. i was also told maybe the valves werent setting good. i talked to the guy i bought it from and he told me "one day i was spraying a 150 shot and it popped real loud, i pulled it apart and 2 lifters broke. i replaced them and it hasnt run right since." but i have pulled it apart and put it back togethor, everything looks normal.

Those stock springs were junk when they came from the factory.I would get some valve springs from com cams and are you planning on getting a cam soon? if so, get you valve springs to match the cam your getting or better yet wait and change everything at once.
