I have a 93 gt that i want to do a few things to. For starters im putting a x pipe and cat back flowmaster system. Then am going to put a bbk cold air intake on with a 70mm throttle body and egr plate. I also want to up grade the ignition. I already got the ford racing wires , autolite plugs, and was going to get msd cap and rotor and the msd coil. My question is with the stock motor and the stuff im going to add is it worth putting the msd 6a box on it to? Any suggestions? This is also my daily driver.

Nope, it's not worth it. The stock ignition was able to handle my combo with as much as 11 lbs of boos from a Kenne Bell through some TFS heads and an E-cam through regular ole copper plugs. It'll handle everything you've listed above and much much more.

I agree with Andy in regard to the HP levels that the stocker can handle.

That said, the multiple sparking has helped smooth out some folks' idle a little, etc.

Good luck.

MSD coils are known for making a buzzing power hum noise that drives most owners nut`s.
I briefly owned a Accel supercoil that did the same thing.

I have a Moroso Pro Coil HO that doesn`t make any noise and is a direct bolt in.

The factory ignition system is strong enough, and simple and reliable. Just standard wires, cap, rotor, and then some basic copper plugs would do you just fine. Check to make sure there is strong spark from the coil, and some like to replace the pickup inside the distributer and replace the gear becase they tend to wear, but that's about it. Generally, don't fix it if it's not broken.

I'm going to advise you to save the money for the throttle body and put it towards something else. Heads, headers, intake manifold, or something big like a turbo, supercharger, or a nitrous kit. You won't benefit from a throttle body without having an aftermarket intake with a larger t/b inlet. The extra air will just hit the stock inlet and distort most of the flow advantage from a larger throttle body.

i would say a 70mm tb is too big for your application. I would definately go with a 65mm unit. U dont want to loose air velocity....its very important. Yes the 70mm unit will flow more air total but it will be moving slower. may cause some throttle response issues! good luck

Seems to me the stocker was good for close to 400 N/A hp (I think I saw some dyno charts in an article once). Sound right to you guys?

In the Richard Holdener,"5.0L Ford Dyno Tests" book, there`s a dyno test showing a stock 60mm throttle body making 424 fwhp on a 426 stroker motor.

The stock 60mm throttle body can support a lot of HP.

Well guys thanks for the advise. I think ill pass on the msd 6a box and just stick with the other ignition upgrades. As far as the tb goes i already got it and i do plan on putting a different intake on in the future. Which intake do you think would be best?

I'd have TMoss port your stock lower intake. You could send him a private message on here. He only charges $110 for his port work and I've never heard a complaint about his work. For stock heads this should be very good.
