as u can see in my sig, ive got a prochamber with the stock mufflers, is the stock catback robing enough power to justify an aftemarket catback? I really like the sound coming out of the tailpipes, so thats not an issue, im asking because i might have an opportunity to get a steeda catback dirt cheap in the very near future
thanks for any info.

Most people will tell you that catbacks are only for sound. The truth is you can probably pick up an additional 8-10 rwhp depending upon the system that you buy. Check out this product review of three catback exhausts: Magnaflow, SLP, and Bassani. The best gains can from the Magnaflow with 12.5 rwhp and 8.2 rwtq. The tests were done on a stock Mach I so the GT results should be slightly lower. Check out this webpage:

Good article. It is nice to read factual information, not hearsay.

The only 99+ GT dyno test I am aware of was for the Dynomax 2.5" catback with ultraflow mufflers. It tested + 4.2 rwhp. This article used to be posted on seanhylandmotorsports.com.

I was just like you a few weeks back. I had the Max O/R X and stock mufflers and was happy with the sound too, but, I wanted it just a tad bit louder. I just welded up Hooker Aero Chamber mufflers and my initial impression was, OH ****T!! MY CAR GOT SLOWER!!!
However, after driving it in the upper RPM's a little more, I realized that I did in fact pick up a few ponys, just lost a little torque down low. No problem, PLUS I got the sound I was searching for too!!
