Are stock pushrods good for this set up? Ford 302 bored .020 over, JE/ SRP forged pistons, AFR 165 heads (pedestal), Cobra 1.7 roller rockers, FTI Ed cam 224/228 Duration at .050 .536/.528 Lift, 110* LSA. Upgraded dual Comp Cams valve springs (914-16) and Edelbrock viton valve stem seals.

Just wondering because my friend has stock pushrods for this set up and runs fine..If this was your set up what pushrods would you go with?

Are you planning on re using the stock pushrods that came on the car pre afr heads? If so, I would HIGHLY reccomend getting new ones. A decent set is only around $100 and if you just spent that much on an engine, I wouldnt assume that would be too much...

I would get as close as possible to perfect... check the PR length with a adjustable PR checker..
and if your AFR heads have guide plates...which I am sure they do .. you NEED hardened pushrods..
But since your using pedistal mount, I would say get as close as possible and then shim the rest to make it perfect..

here is a couple good links to get you started

..a pretty good prcoedure www.mustangcentral.net/tech/geometry

and trickflow's page, www.trickflow.com/articles/stroker_1/#
about half way down the page.. will show you how to make your own checking lifter...

You need 5/16th hardened pushrods... oh and check your pushrods for crap inside and refer to this link
