the dash vents over the speakers are held on by one screw(on the side) and then just pop them off, they clip into place...then its to 8mm bolts i belive...or maybe it was 10mm...i dont remember....

Be careful with clearance on the door speakers. I ran a set of JL audio xr650's in the doors and ended up having to mount them on the outside of the factory speaker grill to get enough clearance.

6x8 is the factory size for the rear in a hatch. Most aftermarket speaker companies make 5x7s with mounts to fit 6x8s. I don't know of any nonfactory 6x8 speaker.

Kenwood head-units are ok. I would rather have a Pioneer Premier.

Check out WoofersEtc.com. They're not some shady online website. They have an AAA rating at the BBB. I've used them many times without any problem.

i had a pioneer in my supercoupe..i liked it but, with the mustang i rarely listen to the radio as it is in my mustang. so i dont see a point in buying a $$$ radio when i can get that one for 100 bucks with two speakers, (i had them speakers in my sc too) and they are really nice for the price...

my dad has the same head unit in his truck though too and its nice.

ive always ordered from crutchfeild for many things and only ever had a problem once....my order got lost in shipping, i called and gave them the order number, they said they would next day the same item's to me....next day they showed up. 2 weeks later so did the items that were lost. called them and they said to keep em for the trouble. so i order two speakers...and got 2 free because of shipping troubles...and they said to keep em.

Ryan have you ever heard a really good stereo system? This is an honest question. Theres no attitude ment behind it.

That headunit cannot play mp3s or wmas. It only has 1 set of preouts, and they are only 2volts. It should have decent radio reception. It only has a few(3) options for tuning. The only good I see is that it has an auxilary input in the front. Those speakers look to be about the same as factory standard speakers.

This would be a good deal for someone who had a decent stereo in his or her car and wanted to sell the car and keep the equipment.

yeah i have...my buddys big into em and had like a 3,000 watt + system into his civic that was crazy loud...

i mainly listen to the radio...92.3 which is country and sometimes a CD if there playing x-mas music....

i really dont care weather it can play mp3's...i bought an ipod and used it maybe 2 times...then sold it and bought the 140mph speedo for my car.

my uncle has the bose in his house, all his cars...sounds damn good but for that price he has paid for them speakers and all audio exument i could of bought freakin cobra.

in my dads truck it gets perfect radio reception.

i dont see the point in dumping 200+ into just a headunit or the same per speaker to have the name brand crap bose ect....ive had kenwood speakers in every car ive had well expect the 83 mustang it had sony...BUT i listen to country a little bit of bass and im good..and for them speakers...had em in my SC with my 129.99 headunit...sounded good along with a 29.99 factory replacement JBL sub and the rest of the factory speakers....

i dont listen to rap nor can i stand sitting at a red light next to a wigger playing his white boy music that has the gangster lean going on with his hat turned sideways and **** rattling around because all you can hear is the bass...theres no point!

and for tuning options....i just set it on rock and go with that...then adjust the fade from front to back..

call me hillbilly but all i care about is having at least 2 speakers in my doors and a decent CD player...id rather be able to say my car runs a 13.5 then be able to say...MY SOUND SYSTEM IS LOUDER THEN YOURS!!!!!!"

maybe your one that cares about having the loudest sound system but that's not me...

id rather spend 500 bucks on my motor then on my sound system....

this aint no pimp my ride yo!

5x7's were the factory size and 6x8's are the aftermarket replacements.
I put Pioneer 6x8's in mine. Theyre a direct fit for Fords.

Cirvinistang - Go to a couple local car or home audio shops and decide what you want out of your audio system.

Ryan - No, I don't like rap, nor am I an SPL guy. I prefer high quality over high volume. If that Kenwood combo satisfies you then you're lucky.

I also dislike when people are inconsiderate of others. I will shortly have all of my system setup and it will come to just under 1000watts. The sub will see half of that. I have always turned down the volume when I'm near people (stoplights, neighborhoods, etc.), but anywhere else it's rock n roll time.

A good stereo, to me, increases general drivability. Sure I turn it off once and a while. I like to hear God....shouting, but I love my music too.

The radio where I live is horrible, so my mp3 cds are my friend.

I would be interested in knowing what equipment your civic friend has. Also how much of that 3,000watts he has going to his sub(s).

You're right about Pioneer making 6x8s.

I'm pretty sure you have the sizing backwards though. How do you fit a 6x8 into a 5x7 mount without modifying it? It's an inch taller and an inch wider.

Every speaker I've ever purchased came with a paper template (usually part of the box it came in). It takes a total brain fart to screw it up.

well i see what your saying there...but i just dont see the point in the much for a stero...to me thats just to much and youc ant hear the music.

EDIT: ill ask him....he traded the car for an 02 Explore a month ago but....from what i remember it had,....a $100 head unit. two 6.5" door speakers and 2 12" subs a amp and a capacitor i believe it what there called? or something like that? ill have to ask him for the exact name of everything though...but the head unit was a kenwood and the 2 door speakers were infinity's.

his car is what we used for the tail gates and such at football games and such because it waws that loud....
