Stock T-5 What will it do?

Hey guys... ive got a 87 stang with the stock T-5 trans in it.. Borg Warner internals. The trans just had a fresh rebuild and it has about 2000 miles on it. Im thinkin about doing some work to the motor.. looking for upwards of 400 horsepower. The question is will the t-5 take that for a while? Im hoping it will hold up for a little while if im pretty easy with it. But if it wont then i'll upgrade my trans before the motor.. What do you guys think.. can it take it?

it will hold as long as you can drive it correctly. my buddy has a stock t5 in his 89 saleen that puts 427 hp to the wheels. hes never had a problem at all.

it will hold up pretty well considering you drive it right.i have a 4cyl 5spd in mine and it has held for about 8 months racing every weekend

my 89 lx is all stock motor wise and ive blew up my t5 twice. i think it all depends on ur driving and a lil luck.

D&D recommends going to a stronger trans. if you're running faster than 12.5.

i think ur ok if u dont plan on alot of power shifting
