I had a strange problem after I tried to re-install my egr valve. I removed it and started the car for 10 min. and it started and ran fine. I decided to put it back on after two days of sitting. Once everything was re-installed I started the car. It would crank over but would not stay running unless you pressed on the gas pedal immediately after cranking it and then continuing to hold it. CEL would come on as soon as the engine would die.
1. I took it back off and installed the blocking plate and plugged the green vacumn line, and reset the PCM. No go
2. I unplugged the sensors leading from the EGR. No go
3. I turned off the EGR switch with a predator and cleared the codes. No go
4. I pulled the PCV vacumn line and cranked it once. No go
5. I plugged the PCV back in and started it about 5 min. later and whamo it ran like a champ. But the CEL was on.
6. I cleared the code (it was P1000) and let it idle for 30 min. No CEL and running fine
7. I drove it for 10 min. and all is well.
Now why in the sam hill would that happen? It's supposed to crap out when you take stuff off, not put it back on.
