Hey everyone, im pretty sure alot of people have had a stripped lug before. Pain in the arse. I was just wondering whats the cheapest place to get it removed and for them to tap in a new bolt? I called pep boys and they are gonna try to charge me 100 or more after taxes. Just wondering if maybe autozone or another place does it cheaper? Im in Socal. Thanks in advanced everyone. OR if anyone has a good way for me to do it myself, that would help too.

Its the front left wheel. 4 Lug fox Also to clear it up, i dont think the lug is stripped. I think its the bolt itself, because i can spin the lug nut left and right and it doesnt tighten or loosen.

Sounds like your wheel stud is slipping in the hole.

IS the wheel still on the car?? I assume you are trying to take the wheel off and the lug nut is just spinning? If that's true, then the wheel stud is slipping in the rotor.

If you can get the wheel off, it's an easy cheap fix...but since the wheel is still on, it's a HUGE PITA.

What wheel do you have on the car? Do you have acces to the lug nut? If so, a small cutoff wheel and a chisel might help get the nut off.

Like 5L5 said, it depends on what your specific problem is, but if the lug nut is stripped I'd hammer a socket onto it and get it off that way, or tack a socket on and go that route.

If that doesnt work these things are amazing for getting out stripped bolts/nuts. They're made by Craftsman and called Bolt-Out, available at Sears.
