Im in a perdicament. Ive been looking into doing a stroker kit for my mustang. Im not sure whichsetup to go with, either a 331 or a 347. Im looking to obviously get more power and some people have been telling me that i can get more out of a 331 rather a 347, and visa-versa. Right now i have a 306 with roush 200 cylinder heads, trick flow intake and stage 2 cam and throttle body and underdrives and the normal bolt-on's. I was planning on using the same stuff only i have a compucar nitrous wet kit 125 shot that i plan on using. If any body has any kind-of tips or advise please let me know. Im looking to just hopefully go low 11's. Thanks alot everyone. Dylan

347 hands down. No need to even debate it.

Click the link in my sig and have Rick build it for you. He's in PA also.

anyone wanna place any bets ?

I'm gonna go with 4 pages...

The general consensus is 331 is better if you plan on some sort of forced induction later. 347 is good if you are keeping it n/a. *Some* people have had experiences with a 347's tending to burn more oil. Others claim that these problems were all with the older kits. Others say why give up the 16 cubes when you are spending the same amount of money.

That being said, I'm currently building a 331.

tx2000gt - There is no set lifespan though I have seen that referenced quite a bit when engine builders say "it will last you a solid 100k if maintained". The stock 5.0L last a solid 150k if maintained...so you the pic Engine dynamics are changed, and that changes life of engine befores signs show up...

Most that build these slightly bigger engines don't use them in daily drivers so they aren't worried about it And thus, they defend them...bias points of view. We all got them...

I like to talk from a reliable daily driver point of view:

331.
