Hi, I'm new here. Got a question. Where would be the best place for me to get sub frame connecters for my 91 LX convertible? This was my Mom's car she passed away in july. She loved this little car and so do I. Had a heck of time finding it for her. I'm new to mustangs. Messed mostly with Torinos and Fairlanes. Love Fords! Any help would be appreciated. Plenty of places offer subframe connectors for Fox Body Mustangs. 50resto.com - MaximumMotorsports.com come to mind but search the net or grab a Mustang magazine and find a price you can handle. Good luck!
Yep, there's a bazillion places that make subframe connectors but not all of them are good quality.
For a convertible, I'd recommend something like Maximum Motorsport's full-length subframes with seat braces. That's just what a Fox convertible needs.

Lots of people also say to either steer clear of the bolt-on type or to have them welded instead. Most SFCs are the weld-in type anyway.
Is there a very noticeable difference after theyre installed, and if i get someone else to do it, how much does it generally cost?
If i had to get some, i would stick with a name brand over the cheap ones, since the cheap ones use lower strength thinner walled steel
Btw i saw one in some mustang magazine by Griggs, it was the GR1000 i believe, but it came with rear bulkhead stiffeners, and through the floor subframe connectors, and looked like it would work well...

maximum motor sports is the only way to go. they cost a little more, but you get what you pay for. the difference is like night and day. most of those annoying little rattles will go away too.
There are other companies that make setups like the Griggs system, with the matrix braces and whatnot, but they will run you a good bit of money, so just be aware of that.
As far as having them installed, I don't know...I had the ones put in my mustang about 6 years ago so I can't even remember how much it cost. I installed the ones on my Thunderbird myself. Take it by a body shop or muffler shop and ask them how much they'd charge you to weld them in.

I think did the BBK bolt-ins on the 88 coupe. bolted in and too lazy to ever weld. No problems ever.
My 87 coupe has the D&D weld ins......junk. Nothing I got from them fit either car I used the stuff on. I would suggest the bolt-in ones and then weld. While you're getting things welded go ahead and do the torque boxes too. Best money ever spent.
