Hey i just got a sub from a friend for free its an 8 inch jbm and its already in a box. It only has two places to hook up wires a positive and a negative, i was just wondering if anyone had any advice on how to install this before i jump into it. i've never done any audio work or anything like it so i have no clue what i'm doin.
any help at all is appreciated
thanks

No i dont have anything but the sub and a box no wires or anything. Do i need a new amp? i figured since it was just a single 8 inch i could just wire it in somehow to the existing stero system, is that not gonna work? Sorry for the ignorance on this

wow, since you have no knowledge of audio, then you are already over your head and should take it to an audio shop and get it done, both install and advice. i can walk you through it all, however it will take several pages of onformation to get this acomplished... if you really want to go for it, i'll repost, however its a bit more then setting it in and connecting a cable...

My only advice with subs is to keep it subtle. Don't make your car a rolling boom box. Turn the crossover down and use the subs for clean, tight bass support only.

yeah its just one sub and its small i picked it up for free is the only reason its even going in but there is no need to waste it either so... torinalth there is no reason to go to all that trouble i didnt know it was that in depth i'll just stop by the local audio place.
as always thanks a million

Is probably the easiest way without new head unit.

That's similar to what I did and it works great. You just need an amp to drive the sub :nice: Also all the factory amps/speakers are intact and functioning.

Before I get the comments, yea I know the box does not fit well and the amp is upside down. But heck, it was all FREE and it sounds awsome (shakes the steering column if I turn it up loud enough).

I have the base centered on the radio, gain controls on the amp are at minimal, the high pass filter is turned on and it sounds great. Nice solid base hits with no distortion and no trunk lid rattle.

Thanks for everyones help and input :nice:
