Hey guys, Quick question. I bought a set of factory ford subframe connectors for my 02 gt... the ones that come on the 03/04 mach 1. And I was wondering what I should torque the bolts that hold them on down to? I dont want to have them to loose, but I dont want to overtighten??

Any help is appreciated.

id just hand crank em, they connect to the rear bolts on your front seat, not so sure you are supposed to torque those, make sure to have them welded in, of course i dont know exactly what the mach connectors look like? are they full length?

so.... does anybody know what the torque specs would be??

And I got the Mach 1 subframes because I wanted to get them.... I like keeping everthing genuine ford products.... I know the mm subs are "better" but .... Idk its nice to have something different than ever other mustang owner. There supposed to be great for body flex control and eventually... probably next summer Ill get them welded in> and yes they are full length subframes.

hate to break ya the news. but all the ford subframes connectors are standard length not full length... not to bash you but thats what they are... they are standard on all convertables as well...

Hope you didn't pay to much for them. I gave mine away when I had the MM's welded in.

Better than nothing I guess .

they are not full length, they will do little no nothing to help with flex. getting them welded wont help any either. get the MM ones and dont mess with the factory ones.

i use OEM parts as much as possible, but there are certain areas where OEM falls way way way way short, this is one such case.

Do you have proof of this? Why does ford put them on?

Not trying to start trouble here it's just i bought the ford ones and don't want to install them if it's not going to do jack.

because ive driven hundreds of mustangs in my life and there was no difference in chassis stiffness or flex control over ones that had no subframes vs ones that had the ford ones.

the ones from MM and other full length ones were the best. ideally a full NASCAR or FIA spec cage is the best, but we cant have it all can we

Just crank em by hand. Or use and impact gun to snug them up.

Those are decent connectors at best. I'd buy a heavy duty set from HPM or MM and have them welded in.

agreed w/ all the above. Personally, I am looking into some Griggs Subframe connectors when my car is up and running again. Welding is the way to go too.
