subframe connector install price

Is there any way to straighten out dented up subframes? Mine have years of abuse from jackstands, and I think that may be why Im being quoted so high. My MM SFCs dont mate up flush to them...

My MM full lengths were the same way when i removed them a few weeks back. I cant see them charging more for this though, as alls they are doing is welding them into place. When they were cut outta the other car was it hacked up?
Even if so nothing a lil Mig welder can't fill in :rlaugh:

No, I mean the actual factory subframes are all dented up. I have brand new MM subframe connectors, but they dont mate up to the car's subframes due to all the jackstand abuse. Can I weld them straight to the underside of the car's floor if I remove the carpet and original subframes?

My little brother is a certified welder so I had him do mine. I have the D&D full length ones. The rec. tube is fairly thick and strong. I have jacked the car up with the subs every time and have not even put the slightest ding in them.

I jacked up the car getting it as level as I could. Used a floor jack to hold the subs in place and I marked were they would go. I sanded down the area to be welded and scuffed up the subframes. Put them back up and used the floor jack to hold them in place and also get them to fit as flush as possible with out taking the load off the jack stands. Brother welded them up.

The only thing that sucked is my brother was out of gas so using the wire for no gas there was the soot/dust crap all over everything. After a quick washdown to get the dust off I hit the welds up with some black paint.

Whole thing took maybe 2hrs.

I see, sorry I read that a$$ backwards....no that shouldnt be a problem that is VERY common. After years of abuse on the MM, they to will show wear from jacks/stands and have dents/dings.

blk great info for him as well!!!

Thanks guys, I think Im gonna do it myself the next time I go see my parents and can use my Dad's welder out at his shop. I just didnt want to weld straight to the floor if there was good reason why it may screw something up.

Just dont burn thru, that floor is ALOT thinner than I thought it was, nuthing you couldn't fill in with a Mig like I said earlier (talking from exp...hehe)

Good luck bro!

Chris

I got mine done at the frame shop and i have kenny brown matrix system along with the jackig rail, double cross subframe connectors, they are the only ones with drive through lift. They charged me $225 for the installation. they didn't charge me by the hour. they charged me by the job. I left the car there for about 4 hours. I thought it was fair.
