Subframe Preference?

just curious...

for you guys that recommend MM have you ever had a car with another brand?

I've got nothing against MM and have a number of MM parts on my car. But I just wondering how a bent piece of tube is all that different between one quality manufacturer and another  (I'm not thinking of comparing MM subs to generic $49.00 ones, just other full length weld in ones)

I've never had a car with MM but I've driven one and honestly I could feel zero difference between what I had (UPR subframes) and the MMs.

What you also have to consider is what your plans are down the road. Sure, you can get a SFC from another manufacturer for a bit less, but then you have to ask yourself a few important questions (if you decide on another brand other than MM):

(1) If I want to upgrade my suspension at some future date, will it work with the SFC I'm planning to choose? A MM T/A (for example) won't work with most SFC's out there, due to the welding involved.
(2) Can I jack the car up on the SFC I'm choosing? You'd be surprised that with many, you can't.
(3) Are they proven to perform, both on the street and on the track?
(4) If I buy SFC's from "company A," and I want to upgrade my suspension in the future, does "company A" make the additional parts I want? (say you want to add a PHB down the road, does "company A" make one, and more importantly, a GOOD one?)

They may cost a little more in the end, but they're worth the extra money invested. Make sure you get the powdercoated ones too.

ive got steeda full length and no problems here....
they even have torque box reinforcement plates

Full-Length Subframe Connectors - '79-'04 Ford Mustang
Product Details
Steeda Full length subframe connectors have been improved with a new one-piece reinforced cross brace. Some subframe cross braces have 8 individual gussets which must be carefully positioned and welded on. Still other kits use no reinforcements at all. Steeda cross braces now have reinforcing gussets built-in, for greater strength with less welding.

These true full-length connectors run the entire length of the floor pan for increased chassis rigidity, better handling and improved ride. The beefy 1.25 by 2 inch connectors are perfect for serious cars with high horsepower, sticky tires or competition suspension. They are reinforced at each bend and include Steeda’s exclusive torque box reinforcing plate for a stronger attachment to the rear subframe.

Full-length subframe connectors are available in bare steel or zinc plated finish. The zinc plating can be welded over, and then only the weld joints need to be spray-painted vs. the whole kit needing to be spray-painted.

also my two cents on tightening the chassis.......
subframes are important however there are three other components.... (aside from getting a roll cage/bar...)

a strut tower brace 4 point: steeda or MM
4 point k member brace: mm's version is excellent... i had a kenny brown 2 point and it pales in comparison to the 4 point. the factory brace is crapola and steeda has a two point also.. me no likes the 2 point stuff....
and the rear strut tower brace: kenny brown offers a bolt in version and steeda has a weld in.... i have the KB

I got Kenny brown's matrix system on both of my cars. It was expensive to buy and it was expensive to get it installed. But both of my cars are stiff as hell. I noticed a big difference right after i got them installed. I had steeda before:nice:
