I am ordering mm full length sub frames tommorow and was wondering is i should make some renforcement plates for the torque boxes. They are the plates that u weld to the bottom of the torque box. Does anyone have them and are they worth my time. I will weld the seams while im under there and get battle boxes later.Im just getting ready for my slicks.thanx :nice:

Definitely take the time to weld the seams up while you are under there, and get torque box supports in there before hitting the track if you can help it. There's a guy on here by the name of Rick91GT that makes his own reinforcements out of stainless; superb quality, excellent fit and finish and I believe they were cheaper than the 'battle boxes' were at the time. They also have more material on the floor plate, and two extra bolts that hold them to the floor of the car on each side compared to other kits.

I bought them from Rick, and was extremely satisfied. Shoot him a pm, or do a search for his username and give him a call at his shop. Great guy to deal with.

I have the same subs you ordered, they come with quite a bit of reinforcing plates and such. You might want to wait and see what you get, it might be enough.

Another vote for Rick91GTs lower torque box kit. It's top notch and good price, and a really good guy to deal with. :nice:

As for the upper tq boxes I just had them welded by a buddy.. Basically you just weld any of the seams where they mate up the the floor or frame rail or bracing.. as well, there's a sort of main plate that runs from one side the to the other on the underside and the upper tq boxes attach to it [kinda - been a while since I been under there]. Tack that thing to the floor in as many spots as you can.

I attached some picks Rick91GT sent me as far as where to weld on the upper and lower tq boxes.

Thanx for the help. I will be ordering some boxes from rick shortly. Im just a little short on money as I just ordered a bunch of stuff. I have some flat steel and was woundering if anyone has ever put on the reinforcement plates that weld to the bottom of the torque box.
