suggested alignment specs after shelby drop

I'm getting ready to do some suspension work and figured I do the drop while at it. Anybody know the specs I'll need to tell the alignment shop when I get done? Also I have this templat http://members.cox.net/mbstang/template.jpg Do I just print it out and bolt it to the stock holes and drill in the new holes?

I printed out the templete and then make a templete out of Al. Makes things alot easier when drilling.

As for alignment specs, here are some general guidelines for street use:

Caster: +2 degrees
Camber: -.5 degrees
Toe: +1/8" to +1/4"

Measure, measure and then re-measure before you drill any holes. Measure how far apart the holes are in the car now. Make sure your template is correct. I agree totally that a template made out of metal should be used. I have one I made years ago and have used it A LOT. It is a free mod to do to the car but if you screw it up it's not easy to fix.


As for alignment spec.

0 - camber on both sides

1.5 to 2.5 caster on both sides

1/8" to in.


This is what we put in our street cars. Make sure the settings ( caster and camber) are the same on both sides. If the shop won't do it, find another shop, if they give you any crap about the stock settings or factory settings, find another shop. You do not want the car set to factory setttings. The shop we use will spend as much time as it takes to make both sides of the car the same. If not, the car won't drive right.

I'm with John here. Steet cars need 0 degrees camber for the sake of tire wear and they still handle great. He is also correct about getting the settings the same on both sides if you want the car to drive right. It is getting harder to find shops willing to spend the time to get the alignment right on these older cars so you will definitely need to shop around. I am going to make all the tools and gauges necessary to do my own from now on.
