Measure, measure and then re-measure before you drill any holes. Measure how far apart the holes are in the car now. Make sure your template is correct. I agree totally that a template made out of metal should be used. I have one I made years ago and have used it A LOT. It is a free mod to do to the car but if you screw it up it's not easy to fix.
As for alignment spec.
0 - camber on both sides
1.5 to 2.5 caster on both sides
1/8" to in.
This is what we put in our street cars. Make sure the settings ( caster and camber) are the same on both sides. If the shop won't do it, find another shop, if they give you any crap about the stock settings or factory settings, find another shop. You do not want the car set to factory setttings. The shop we use will spend as much time as it takes to make both sides of the car the same. If not, the car won't drive right.
