sumit cam K3601

Anyone knows who manufactures this cam for sumit? I am looking for its performance curve (torque vs RPM) and cannot find any similar cam. Is it likely that it makes at least the same low end torque as stock ford cam (with dual plane manifold and 600 cfm carb)? Is it suitable for quite a low ratio (3:1) at rear axle?
('73 sbf 302)
specs:
Duration at 050 inch Lift: 218 int./228 exh.
Advertised Duration: 276 int./286 exh.
Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio: 0.471 int./0.471 exh. lift
Lobe Separation (degrees): 114

Summit cams are made by TRW...
Same folks that make Edelbrock cams!

If you look at the specs on that cam, it will probably match one of E'brock's cams.

speed pro (actually sealed power) but they are Federal Mogul companies so it really doesn't matter much whose name is on the box. speed pro was making these grinds before the F-M buyout of TRW though.

You just want to nit-pick!:p

My point was that the part was made not by Summit, or Edelbrock for that matter, but a generic industrial grade auto parts conglomerate.

I would never buy anything from Edelbrock but an intake, maybe heads.
Nearly everything else they sell is made by someone else and then boxed/labeled with their name. Cut out the middle man...

That said, gotta watch what you get from Summit under their house label too!:nono:
Some of their parts are made in China, made very poor quality.
Did you ever see the thread with pics of a Summit Stage 3 intake?
It's a copy of the Edelbrock AG IIRC.
That intake was nasty!
Looked like it was cast in a mold made of dirty rocks.

sorry man, i worked in auto parts most of my life so i guess i am a little nit picky. just like i prefer bendix brakes parts to raybestos when most people think it really doesn't matter. or lot's of other stuff that the aftermarket "performance" companies sell that's really just off the shelf replacement parts for something else.

i will say though that the summit cams are generally less expensive than what you can get the same part for from any place that sells the same cam in the speed pro package, generally but not always. it's just like the E'brock performer carb is/was really just a reboxed Carter AFB (also owned by federal mogul, BTW), you could even get the AFB in a spee pro box for a while as well, i don't think they do that anymore though, in fact i don't think they even sell the AFB anymore either. anyway, you get my point, i'm a picky bastard :D

To answer your last two questions, Yea it'll work with a dual plane and a 600 carb. And yes too with the rear gear ratio. This cam you listed can best be descibed as an "improved" RV type cam. Improved I mean by it's power band will be slightly higher than a slightly smaller grind ( with a 204/214 duration) The 114* LSA will also make the carb more responsive.:nice: It'll be a nice compromise between a factory cam and a drag strip/race cam. It will work with stock springs too. It's slightly hotter than the 82-84 5.0 H.O. cam.
