Super charger and NOS anybody?

I thinking about adding a 75 or 100 hp shot of nos to my 5.0 that is already supercharged. Has anyone done this around here? Third and fourth gear would carry alot better with a little shot but I don't nessesarily want ot blow my engine, of course then I could rebuild it, Yeah!!

well assuming your componates can handle the extra power it's not a bad option. I would put in an ignition retard to kick on when your n20 comes on (expecialy a good idea becasue you are only using it in high gears). That way you will still be able to run as much timing as possible. Not sure what supercharger you have, but if it can you can run more boost, put an intercooler on there if you don't already have one, water injection, or my personal fav for making more power on an intercooled car plumb up a windshild waser to spray water on your intercooler.

I would think that the hardest part of doing this would be getting the tune right.

If my understanding is right (and it is quite often wrong), then the use of N2O on boosted engines is pirmarily for the intercooling affect. So a smaller shot should work very well.

A Tweecer (or equivelant) would almost be required for something like this???

Tunes not too tough, if you really want to nail it down flow your nitrous stepup. That is the sweet thing about n20 the tune is sperate from the engine (assuming it's not one of those weird dry kits) tune your engine to run as well as possible and then tune your N20 system to run as well as possible. They are cumulitive, your should never spray rich to make of for a lean NA engine and vise versa

any way just do some plug reading at the end of the track of your runs and dial it in.

there are alot of people that do this, usually in higher boost situations to "cool" the intake temps. a 100 shot on top of your supercharger will turn your stock 5.0 block into scrap metal, or a flower pot, unless your running no boost, tune is an issue, but not as important as the equipment your useing so more of your combo would be great to know

my neighbor has a wicked little mazda miata and he's running boost and laughing gas. he's taken me for a ride in it and on top end that thing is like a motorcycle. he told me when he uses n20 he dials the boodst down a bit and then overcompensates with the nitrous. i imagine it's a matter of fine tuning the combination and knowing what your setup's limitations are. either way, i would start off with a very small dose of nitrous and go from there once you are certain your setup can handle it.

actualy it is the other way around, I have seen some crazy stuff live for a long time, becasue of perfect tunes. But then you have no safty margin, so just a touch of dentonation and your toast.

tune is always more important than ultimite streagth of your componates, it just comes down to how much safty factor you want to pay for and how good are you at perfecting your tune

i run FAST stand alone my tune was dead money, i had/have a zero ballanced setup, i split my block in half at 570, the block failed, no matter how good your tune is when certain parts meet there limits there is nothing that will hold them together.

i totally agree with you about tune, but certain things can not handle all you can throw at them.

I totally agree. A 50 shot will pay dividends while a 100 might turn you into a suicide bomber. 5.0's are so simple that there's not much to tuning a combo like that. It will depend on the type of unit. A dry unit would require almost no tuning, maybe a little timing retard, if your injectors are properly sized. A wet unit is a little tougher because you may have to get creative with the fuel jetting on the unit. I've been wanting to try that for a long while. I keep chickening out. I say go for it. Be carefull though- that 50shot will give you more than 50hp going through the blower and a lot more tq.

The problem with running a dry setup with forced induction is you might not get the extra fuel you need, expecuialy with a boost senstive pressure regulator. Because of turbulent/lamener flow issues (read fluid dynamics 101) the increase of fuel pressure is not always a linear increase in fuel quanity. when your running your injectors at a meadium amount of fuel pressure then it is pretty close, but at the higher ends you can get into trouble. That is why the wet system is so easy and simple, if you want to lean it out put a smaller jet in, if you want to fatten it up but a bigger jet in it. it is totaly unrelated to what you do with the rest of the car (assuming fuel and bottle pressure is staying the same)

If you have the injectors sized properly the computer should meter fuel just fine. A wet set up can be finicky and when you force that fuel into the tbody under boost weird things happen. I am not very fond of wet setups in general. Next time I decide to use the gas I'm going to try a dry kit.

It feels like any other T-5 without the exploding sounds. I haven't broken it yet. That says alot. Mine has a minor problem that is making it hard to speed shift but my best friend has one and he thinks it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. The only complaint that I have is that it has a 26 spline shaft and there are not as many choices as far as clutches are concerned. Not only that, but what is available is pretty spendy.
