Supercharge an otherwise stock stang?

Hey guys. Over the last few months I've been piling up parts for my supercharger conversion. I've got a SCT Xcal II, 30lb injectors, a FRPP roots blower, lightning MAF, and a local dynotuner ready to work the car up. I plan on picking up a capable fuel pump and a methanol injection kit from Snow, and I wonder if at that point it would be safe to put it all in. I know I won't get the most of it, and in the future I plan on getting full exhaust, ignition upgrades, cams, etc... Basically, even though I won't get 100% potential, is it safe to put a blower on a stock GT, or will the factory exhaust and such be too restrictive and cause possible problems?

At the recommended power levels, the factory exhaust isn't a problem. When you start getting into the 600/700hp range the factory pipes might choke the system a little. You can always get a re-tune when you do cams, etc. and make more power.

Yeah, I planned on future dynotunes as I mod it up, and it will be interesting to see how each mod changes my dyno numbers. I am just sick of looking at the blower on my shelf, I've had it for almost a year, and by the time I had my 'total package' together that I would like to end up with, I'd be waiting atleast another year or two. This way, I can get some power now, and build it up. I just didn't know if the stock exhaust would choke it out. I plan on going with LTs, a BBK catted H for LTs, and Steeda side exhaust. I don't want to be too loud. I also plan on some MSD COPs, some cams down the line (probably heads too :D ), and a better TB. Eventually, I plan on getting CDCs shaker system, the blower kit for it that puts a filter under the scoop, and doing some custom intake tubing to make it a straight shot to the TB.

I wouldn't mess with the ignition stuff. I have been doing some searches, and I have read a lot of people having problems with the MSD COPs. Breaks my heart, I have always had really good luck with MSD. WeaponX has some coils coming out for 2V's.. You might take a look at those, they look pretty promising.

You will be fine running that blower on a stock setup. When you think about it, thats what a cobra, roush, ETC is. I know there is more too it then that, but you get the point.

You will be fine, you will pick up som power with exhuast though.

I dont know if that blower is going to work though, the only blower that FRPP made was for 96-98 GTs. From what Ive read they dont work on 99-04 GTs.

I know it'll work. It came off of a 01. The problem with them was, they made one for non-pi headed 96-98s, then made a second for the same cars with a PI conversion. They made install kits specific to each application which made them work. They were supposed to, but never did, introduce an install kit for the 99+ cars. The guy I got it from did all of the fab work himself. This thing is going in with some killer looking solid billet brackets. There's a huge thread around here about it, search it up, it's a great read with lots of solid info.

SilverBullet: bad stuff about the MSD COPs? Wow. I know Summit Racing just released their own set. I've had nothing but good results in the past with MSD on my 87, I had a blaster coil, 6AL box, spark plug wires, and all made power and worked great. Kinda crappy to hear that these have issues, because I'm always up for a little MSD action on my stang. I've heard the stock setup is more than capable, but I have seen some 8RWHP gains on a retuned blower car that only added the COPs. I'll have to do some more homework...
