My mustangs engine has finally gone to the dogs after 124,000 miles of hard abuse I drove her to the machine shopwith the engine banging. The load clunking noise I had was the last piston on the passenger side hitting my cylinder head and I have bent pushrods. I am getting the engine stroked to a 347 with trw forged pistons and total seal rings. The car has a powerdyne blower which with the 11lb pulley showed only 9lbs on the gauge. I currently have 24lb injectors with an fmu along with a gss 255lph intank pump,gt 40 iron heads, e303, gt40 intake headers, prochamber, flows and the powerdyne. My question is will I need to go to 36 or 42 lb an hour injectors or what are you guys running in a motor that will put out 500 at the flywheel? I am swapping the heads and cam probably for roush 200 stage 1 heads from panhandle performance and a tfs stage two cam Or since I have time make suggestions to get me at or over 500hp I am concerned about stroking because of the blower and compression ratio getting raised. Hell if you could tell me how to make 500 without the powerdyne i'm all for it I am also considering the kennebell boost a pump or bbk inline fuel pump unit .

500 Flywheel HP is somewhere around 400 rearhweel hp, which is MORE then attainable with your combo. You could reach it with 38lb injectors, but however i would go with 42s just to be on the safe side and leave yourself room to grow. I also recommend buying yourself a new block, as that 124,000 miles currect block probably has seen better days. Just my 02, good luck

The block should be fine. Just do all the routine stuff to make sure its nt cracked and what not. Whos kit are you buying? You can get a Scat 9000 crank, 4340 rods and much better pistons for about 1000 from Brian.

If your going to be running the FMU, use the 36s. If not, then the 42's on their own will be more than plenty.

Thanks guys iam ditching the powerdyne possibly since the compression will be 10:5:1 thats kinda high I think for a blower The shop is using srp forged pistons, scat crank (save Money),total seal rings, and get this a camzilla z303 motorsport cam the builder picked this cam since i am ditching the blower. The builder told me that the 347 needs more duration and more lift than what the trick flow offers. Would my 24lb injectors be enogh without the blower I heard there good to 500 na.

I'm running 30's but it's just because a nitrous kit is somewhere down the road. 24's would be perfectly fine for your combination. Let us know what you end up with! I love to hear about 347 strokers.

67stang390 a couple of questions do you run a main support girdle, and whats your compression ratio. Also do you have any power estimate on your 347. I also heard 347 engines wear down fairly quick compared to a 331 or 306 if you heardanything on reliability let me know. I think all i will get is around 385 or so at the flywheel with a z303 cam roush stage 1 headsfrom panhandle performance 1.70 rollers shorties, prochamber and american thunder exhaust. I think the powerdyne would bump the hp at 9psi to 485 or 500 i have to decide because the machine shop can get low compression pistons but I've been told the block,t5z, king cobra clutch and rearend will go bye bye fast along with the scat cast sroker crankshaft. This supercharged combo would probably crush a stock toyota supra, sti and evo. On the track the old iron headed supercharged e303 combo lost to a modded supra and a 2003 cobra by about a car length. I think the road race suspension killed the quater mile times .

I do run a main support girdle. My compression is about 10.5:1 after I had the block decked. As far as wearing down faster, I'm not sure. I've driven about 4000 miles with no problems so far, 3000 of which was straight driving from Seattle to Phoenix and back. I think the Scat crank would be fine for 500hp. See my signature for my combo, I'm running forged Eagle rods and crank.

Ok the engine is going to be topped with dart aluminium pro 1 heads from panhandle performance at a cost of 1395 + I am getting scorpion roller rockers with a lifetime warranty . The engine guy says my compression is going to be 10:9:1 but im ditching the blower. I was told I should be able to get this car into the 11's if not my driving stinks anyone here with a 347 stroker na get into the 11's on drag radials let me know also iam thinking about selling the powerdyne its a bd11a ford mototsport unit with an 11# pulley anyone interested let me know I sold a ported ededlbrock on stangnet for 250 last year without any problems.

Have you got it running yet? I just picked up a Z303 cam to run in my 342 (std bore). I'll be running it with some Edelbrock Performers (its what I got), a GT40 intake with the lower welded and ported to a 1262 gasket, 70mm T body 75mm MAF and 30 lb injectors, equal length shorties and high flow cats.
