If you are going to run 8lb (stock pulley) of boost out of a Vortech V2-SQ, is a mail order tune going to be safe enough?

I've picked out my entire setup, but I just need to find a proper tune. The tuners in my area charge about $600 to get a dyno tune and a mail order tune from fordchip.com or superchips.com costs around $325. A lot of the tuners tell me to forget the mail order tunes because they are unsafe and will most likely blow your engine in the long run. What does the stangnet community think? Anyone have any good luck with mail order tunes getting it right the FIRST time?

Thanks! Here is my setup:

focus fuel pump, 30lb injectors, stock MAF, V2-SQ vortech with 8lb pulley.

Every car is different so nailing the tune head on the first time through the mail might not be always possible but there is a chance.

In terms of a good mail order tune vs dyno tune it all depends on who the tuners is. Obviously a dyno tune will be able to get the tune to it's max potential on the first time because all the adjustments can be made easily but that all depends on if you have someone local that you would like to have them tune your car.

In terms of dyno tune you got to pick someone local. In terms of mail order tune I suggest Modular Powerhouse.

My installer stated that I'm on my own if a mail order tune is used.Be more concerned of a quality install/tune than saving $$$. If the mail order does not work out..it goes back & forth and your car sits. HTH
