well Im 99.9% sure i am going to take my tax return and save a little and get blown! i would like some opinions on what kind to get and what doesn't come w/them that i will need to buy to go with. I can't decide whether to go with Kenne bell, Vortec, or maybe go cheap and get a powerdyne. I already have 300hp n/a and i will be running it on a completely stock short block(cross your fingers for me). I want one that is easy to install and maintain. the goal is around 450hp. I don't want to make more than that because i'm using the stock internals. Please help me decide.

I'm not looking for huge numbers and that is why I thought about getting the powerdyne. but i will probably get a vortec or kenne bell.
between the two of them with is going to be easier to install and tune. remember i'm on an island in the middle of no where so i will have to do the tuning my self. I was thinking i would see how the fmu works and if it doesn't then i will get a tweecer or pms.

also I don't think that either kit comes with injectors or a maf. will my C&L work or will I need a different one. also what size injectors should i get. and is there anything else that doesn't come with the kits that i will need? thanks for your suggestions.

You'd have to be careful on the autobahn with a KB; long stretches of WOT and they'll heat soak.

The Powerdyne's used to be so bad about not being reliable so check it out real good.

The things you would wanna do to try and get buy without a tune are not necessarily the best things to do if you are gonna tune.

Your sig in not descriptive so ...............

The following stuff is just guide lines OK

NO TUNE

You will be using the fmu so I'd go no bigger than 24's to keep things reasonable at small pulse width driving conditions.

You could use your C&L.

You will want a hotter ignition to keep the spark from blowing out.

You will just have to wait and see how satisfied you are with the no tune method.

TUNE

I'd ditch the fmu and go to 42's.

Don't know if the C&L will work all that great with 42's as I have seen several try it and then move to a Lightning, ProM, or other maf. You'll just have to do some research.

Again, upgrade the ignition.

Pro or Self Tune

For street I really do like the KB. Since you already got a combo that moves a lotta air, you very well could run out of breath up top with the 1500 baby Bell.

For track & Autobahn you might be better off with a cent blower.

thanks for the tips grady!! now that i think about it i think i'm going to go with a vortec. especially since the kenne bell will not work with my RPM II intake and i really think that intake is going to pay off with the vortec.

and it will be a self tune or no tune since i don't think i'll find a tuner around here.

You can get away with the self tune and FMU, but it'll make more power with 42lb injectors, Lightning MAF, and custom chip.

I know SCT makes a MAF/Injector/Chip combo that should help alot with the tune.

Is there any kind of intercooler for the KB? I have always wondered how it would do in Florida with just street use, and some highway. My buddy had a friend with a 94-95 cobra and the kb seized and he lost the motor. I think the heat was to blame but it makes me wonder if there is a way to avoid this other than moving to a cooler climate.

I think i would go with a procharger over a vortech. you get an intercooler with the procharger. Vortech...there is no such thing for our cars.

thanks I'll look into the prochargers. how do they compare with the vortec when it comes to installation?

also is a super charger easier to tune than a turbo?

i would assume turbo's are harder to tune because its rare that a turbo stang ever runs right
