i will be getting a supercharger in august, haven't made up my mind yet. the vortech company over rated their superchargers i heard. got this source thru a procharger link. procharger says that intercooling is # for # the best way too go. i heard they have a leakage problem in their selfcontained unit.which is best? i'll let you all decide for me, however many results i get leaning toward either one that's the one i'm going to go with. right off i'm not going to get a intercooler or aftercooler, that will come later. and another big question is do i need to get some engine work done to prevent any damage or malfuntions, because i have 183,000 miles on my motor.(still strong!) if so what do i need done? what is the black stuff in my tailpipe? it don't drip water anymore. what's up with that?!
( i don't want you to include the items needed to use the charger efficiently)

:owned: 95 GT vert
stock except for K&N and flowmasters 40 series.

thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

id personally spend the money on other mods first...that motor is going to be CHOKING the hell out of the power....the stock GT stuff just wants ment to have a blower strapped to it...id think about it on stock heads but never on a totally stock motor...id recommend against the blower at this point...you wont see power numbers even CLOSE to what the blower is capable of....there are so many mods for the money that you could do and see more power from it....

I agree w/ Viper in the sense that your not going to see good results out of a blower w/ as little as you have done to the car. You wont see much more power gains out of a stock GT w/ a S/C then you would if you put on Heads, cam, Intake, full exhuast, and other various bolt ons and it would be cheaper to do that route. At the very least free up your exhuast more and put on an aftermarket intake.

When you are ready for a blower I would take a serious look at Paxton. I have a Paxton Novi 2000 on mine and wow....what a very well built blower. The quality of paxton is unmatched and the Novi 2000 will make all the power you could want. Prochargers do leak, I still to this day hear of leaking head units, there very nice blowers but its to much of a PITA to deal w/ a leaky head unit. I went w/ Paxton b/c of the quality, the looks, and the power I could make w/ it. Plus you dont see to many SN95's on here or anywhere else w/ Paxton's on them, I dont know why since there just awesome blowers. I guess everyone gets sucked up into the whole vortech craze but I did the paxton to be diffrent even though Vortech now owns Paxton. Just my .02 hope it helped.

i would go with whatever you can afford . i like both paxton and vortech. i went with the vortech because ,i wanted my altenater to stay where it's at might be a funny reason but thats why .the paxton kit moves it down on the bottom and i didn't spend all the time pollishing it just to stick i down there. i think the stock motor will run fine with any blower , but i agree with everyone else you just won't see the full potential of it with all stock parts, with that many miles i would recomend a strocker long block instead , it would be about the same money and would definitly run better and then add the blower to that down the road .

I guess I'm biased.

Another vote for Vortech here!

I've had both an S-trim and a ATI D1-b on my 95 at one time and the Vortech was easier to install, had less belt slip issues, had less tuning issues and actually made more power.

The S-trim will make a little more low to mid range rpm than the Novi as well, which is nice on the street.

EDIT: Dammit thats not working either, WTF Is wrong w/ this thing   [/QUOTE]

you need a close bracket.

i've heard that boost is a backpressure measure, modified 5.0's will see relatively less boost. the higher the compression, the less power to be found using a supercharger. the mods highten up your compression don't it?

boost doesnt make power....that may be hard to understand but tis true. Boost is just a measure of the pressure of the air thats getting backed up in the motor...a free flowing 5.0 may see less boost with the same blower belt as a stock one BUT the free flowing car will gain more power because backpressure is your enemy when your boosted...you want to get that air out of the cumbustion chambers ASAP....the only way modifications will change your compression is if you put in high compression pistons, or buy aftermarket heads that raise your compression.....

...your getting too caught up in boost numbers....just because you see more boost doesnt actually mean you will see the most gains....

If you don't want to be like everybody else, TURBO. Stock block, stock internals, so what. I have been told that I am pushing about 400+ to the rear wheels. I am waiting until it cools off a little then I will find out for sure.
