i decided to put a blower on my car so it will be quick while i save up for a 347 h/c/i longblock. then ill just put the blower on that. i just want something simple since it will be going on a 140k motor. with the upgrades in my signature. i going to get a small blower like a vortech A-Trim. I want a loud blower and only want to see about 6 pounds of boost. maybe 9lb max.

Do you guys think my motor can handle 9lbs with a safe tune?

Is 6lbs asking to much?

what kinda power difference would there be with stock to 6lbs and stock to 9lbs?

Have you been the owner for the life of the car? Do you know it's maintenance history etc. A good way to see how your motor is by doing a compression test and a leak down test. That is where you should start. If you pass those and your vehicle is in good mechanical order I say go for it. I am running my vortech s-trim (loud) on the stock motor with bolt-ons at 10 lbs. With a tune and a good motor 9lbs would be just fine, but 6lbs would indeed be "safer". The general rule is for each pound of boost there is 10 horsepower. If you chose to go the vortech route I would go for a s-trim. They see 8 lbs under normal conditions (I see 10 because I have a power pipe).

the a-trim kit is for the fox body. it will fit but you need to run the fox throttle body and fox accessory setup to make it work. i would go for the s-trim anyway since it will give you room to grow later. at 140k miles a compression test and a leakdown test is definitely in order before putting a power adder on the car.

The Vortech s trim is very reliable and will work we'll with a stock engine.
Just keep the boost to a 8psi. max and you should be fine with the stock
engine.I recommend don't have your foot into it everywhere you go.

Should be fine, as stated if you keep the boost below 10 psi. It would be a good idea to do a compression check & leak down test. Keeping detonation away is the main issue, which is in the tune.

the $2000 range is more than likely the best deal you will find. that seems to be what an s-trim in good shape goes for on ebay and in the classifieds.on a side note, if you have a lead foot everywhere you go, i would think twice about the blower. at 140k, your rod bearings, main bearings, and rings have to have a decent amount of wear on them. combine that with boost, constant high rpm's, and the pressure that the blower belt puts on the nose of the crank and the wear gets accelerated a great deal. you will find yourself looking to rebuild the bottom end in no time at all. did you ever do the compression and leakdown tests? if so, post up the results for us.
