I just graduated from high school, and I picked up my 89 Fox a few months ago, to replace my beater 93 lx 4banger, which was my first car.

Background on the Mustang-
Guy we know bought it brand new in 89, rolled it in 92. Light damage for a rollover. He parked it in his barn for the last 18 years, and we got it off him cheap and restored it, almost all new body panels/lights, fresh paint, 59k original miles, new carpet, new windshield, some interior pieces were freshened up, and a full sound system.

Modifications
Engine-Underdrive pullies; nitrous [took off]; cold air kit [cheapo from American Muscle]; A/C delete [gotta install]; Mallory powermaster coil; FRPP plug wires.
Exhaust-shorty headers, O/R Hpipe, magnaflows.
Handling/bracing-BBK Lowering springs[installed by PO/OO]; MM Strut tower brace/kmember brace/full length weld on subframe connectors/caster-camber plates; Pony wheels wrapped with Pirellis.
Brakes- Turbocoupe rear disk brake conversion.
Sound- High-end Pioneer deck, 2 10" RE Audio subs backed by 4000 watts from US Amps, door and rear Kenwood speakers.
Paint- Two-tone, Charcoal and light green. White pinstripping.

Thanks, but why not get rid of the A/C? To get it working, i need to charge it, and my HVAC knobs dont turn all the way to cold or warm.. so, its kind of stuck.. and unfortunately, due to sitting in the barn for 18 years, when the air is turned on, it spells HORID. Idk, ive lived without A/C the past two years, and we had a humid 90 degree day the past week and it wasnt too bad. Just gives me a reason to go faster!

I got rid of my AC when I was your age and it is my biggest regret with the car. Here's a couple reasons:

1. AC doesn't operate at WOT, so it doesn't really affect full throttle performance whatsoever. Removing your AC does little more to make your car faster than lighten your car maybe 20lbs.

2. When you grow up and get a real job, you're eventually going to want to drive that beauty to work on a nice summer day without leaving sweat stains on the seat of your pants. Even if you never get a real job, some day, you'll have to go to a wedding or a funeral or a graduation or SOMETHING and you'll have black slacks on and you'll have to drive a boring car on a beautiful summer day just because you can't risk sweating out in the Mustang.

3. Chicks don't want to ride in a car that doesn't have AC.

4. One of these days you'll get your ass handed to you by a dude in a Corvette and he'll rub it in your face that he did it while enjoying the cool air blowing out of his vents. It will be one less thing he'll get to pick on you for.

5. Building a new AC system for a car that doesn't already have one is in the neighborhood of $700-$800. That's a lot more expensive than it is to just repair a non-functional one.

Awesome pictures!! I bet that paint job looks 10000 times better in person. They make stuff to clean out the evaporator case. It's a spray can with like a 3 or 4 foot hose. You stick it up the drain tube hose and squirt it up in there. It foams up and cleans it out. Then you shoot some water in there to rinse it. Ater that they make a deoderizer if you wish to use it as well.

Beautiful car man ,Looks GREAT!! You guys did an awesome job resurrecting that fox.

I agree about leaving the A/C. Comfort is much more worth than the very minimal power gain by removing it.

As far as the terrible smell coming from the vents? Have you seen any signs of mice in your restoration? Lots of times, cars in barns for years result in mice making nests and living in the HVAC duct work under the dash.

I just finished a two year restoration of my '87 vert. That car lived untouched in the previous owners barn for 7 years. Mice had completely taken it over. I had to remove the dash, HVAC piping, heater box and clean it out.

It was totally clogged up with nest rubbish and NASTY to say the least.

agreed i am trying to convince my fiance to go with a two tone, she wants to keep it like it looks now mostly blue with a green hood, i have just added this to the list with a color combo like 25th has.

Oh yes, mice were bad. Whole shop wreaked of mice s*** and barn. Replaced carpet since it was so bad.

that all a reason why i KINDA wanted to keep my A/C, when i drive my car just for the hell of it around town, between the sunroof, black interior, no a/c, no insulation, dumps and harness seats, its not comfortable in any way really, but i built a race car and if i want ice cold AC i have my truck, but if the car is your DD keep the damn a/c
