WTF could cause this?
Dirty MAF?
Bad TPS?
Bad Chip? (SCT)

The hanging idle pretty much happens all the time. The car also will hang in between gear shifts for a long time and hang when I release the gas too.

The surging/bucking problem seems to happen when I'm accelerating near WOT in 4th gear, getting ready to shift to 5th. The car bucks or surges for a split second. I've noticed that sometimes when this happens, the speedometer will drop by 30-40 mph before returning to the normal speed.

It also will stall now out of the blue. No indication or anything, just boom, it stalls and the engine turns off.

A couple days ago I was coming home from class and all of a sudden it started running VERY rough. I pulled over and the engine died. I tried restarting it, but it didn't work. Then, I waited a minute, then restarted it and it was fine.

Well, what's new on the car? Is this a mailorder SCT? Are the contacts clean and is it secure on the computer port? With all the symptoms you've listed, I wonder if this is the problem.
Or, a fuel delivery issue - time for a new filter?
I'd check that chip first...
If all else fails, give it some more cowbell.

The chip is an SCT with their standard gear correction and performance program. I've had issues with it since I installed a CAI and the chip + gears in june. But they only got real bad recently.

Take that sucker in as soon as you can. Then sell that yellow bitch

I would have to think its that chip. I wonder about the CAI too

I got some kind of leak in my new tire (right, rear) . Im sure Garret will hook me up, hopefully its just a leaky valve stem.

Ya I think its getting back at me for placing it for sale.

I really don't know, I'm leaning towards it being the chip. I've talked to a few other JLT True CAI owners with 01's and they aren't having the same problems I am. So we'll see.

Your not kiddin. My car just seems to be running slower lately. I think it overheard me talking to the guy about 04 Cobras at the dealership that day. If it would have seen me drive by in that Cobra... I would be having mystery stall out problems too.

Edit - could be because been so damn hot lately, and running the A/C too much (yes I know, but it has been slower when the A/C is not running as well <---that is what I am referring too...Smart Asses )

I'm figuring it has to be that. The MAF is fine, the TPS should be just fine too. I'll just ask them to pull the chip and let me drive it around for a little while to see what happens.

Took out the chip, all the problems are gone except for the idle rpm, which doesn't hang or anything, its just very low, maybe around 700, when it should be past 950.

Clean those contacts, all the way down to bare brass.
Mine idles at 700 - 800 with the chip.

mine has to idle above 950 for smog reasons, the chip makers know this, and so does my shop, so i think its something else we gotta find.
