Suspension Makeover ?s

So I just got some Eibach Pro Kit springs for $30.

Looking for suggestions for some other things.

Subframes Connectors? I was looking at the Kenny Brown Matrix. Any other, cheaper suggestions?

Rear Control Arms? No idea.. was thinking of welding torque boxes, reinforcing stock and running a Total Prothane Kit for all the bushings.

What caster/camber plates?

Right now the car sports Ford Tracings Cobra 5-lug kit. 17x9 FR500 wheels with 275/45/17 Sumitomo HRTZIII tires. Will be switching to 235/45 or 245s up front to get rid of rubbing issues.

So far I'm looking at getting Sumitomo HRTZIII 235/45/17s for front, right now it has 275s front and rear. What is the largest I could go up front without rubbing?

Prothane Total Kit w/Trans mount $239.99
Prothane Motor Mount $124.95
Maximum Motorsports Caster/Camber Plates $198.95
BBK 2542 Subframes Connectors $151.95 will be bolted and welded.

I also want to weld the torque boxes. Maybe just reinforce the stock rear control arms.

This is a street car. I have a $800-$1000 budget but would like to do some engine performance mods as well.

If anyone has any input I'd love to hear it.

Those are all good parts to be looking at, but I'd also consider new balljoints and A-arm bushings (or entirely new A-arms, which come with it all installed), and some height-adjustable rear control arms like MM makes. I kick myself for not getting height-adjustables sooner.

It has new balljoints. Prothane Total Kit will replace all bushings. What rear control arms? Link? Benefits?

Wow, that was a good buy on the $30 springs. Did you upgrade the shocks and struts as well? Those are key.

Full length subframe connectors are a must, and I'm sure one of the forum sponsors has them cheaper than KB.

Control arms are also a big upgrade. It is not worth the time and effort to swap poly bushings into the flimsy factory arms. Good quality control arms are available for not much more than what the bushing kits cost.

An upper & lower torque box kit aids durability.

Caster - camber plates with spherical bearings give you adjustability AND much more precise steering feel.

Don't forget a strut tower brace to help with all of the flex in the front end.

The height adjustment alone is worth the price the first time you look at your car and say "damn, I wish the rear end sat differently, I wonder which springs I should get?" Or say you're going somewhere and you load the back end up with a bunch of stuff, 30 seconds on each side with a 1/2-drive socket wrench and you can raise the back end up just for that trip. At least with the good ones, some knockoffs can't be adjusted when they're loaded. Then if you start getting hardcore into performance, their true colors shine in your ability to preload and corner-balance the car.

An adjustable upper control arm goes along way. I was not going to get adjustables because I rarely went to the track. Then I did hit the 1/4 mile track and the car launched pretty violently on the right rear tire. The Steeda Adjustables were worth the extra money because this issue was easily sorted. Do it right the first time, adjustables.

Sub frames is another suspension upgrade that was well worth it. I could tell the car was much more stiff right away which was needed. The first time I jacked the car up I realized how awesome they were. Put the jack behind the front tire and while jacking it up the rear tire came off the ground.

My Steeda Caster / Camber plates were a bit clunky. I had the Hotchkis brand on there before with the urethane bushing and there were zero clunks. The looked much better too.

Already have a 3 point strut tower brace. I keep getting told that upgrading the front control arms is a waste. I was thinking about the J&M ones LMR sells. People say it's a waste because if I want to upgrade to coilovers I need to buy new ones, couldn't they just be modified?

My budget is $800-$1000 and I'd like to have some money left over for performance mods. The car has 2.73s in it still and I want 3.73s. Its a T5 car and has a healthy motor already. Ran 13.1 at Gainesville on street tires.

a good suspension will help in the 1/4 miles when setup properly. also a CAI is cheap and the exhaust can be done for less then $600 mac long tube headers and offroad h pipe would be about $398 then a set of pro dumps for about $190 all shipped to your house total $588.

I have BBK Shorties and off-road h-pipe to a set of thrush mufflers but I do want long tubes. Also have the March ram air kit but want a fenderwell kit.

Its far from stock, just don't know how far...lol. I'm the second owner, first owner died and I bought from his wife. She said he had over 6g in the motor. Everything is ARP even the thermostat housing bolts. Think it's a stroker but will never know till I tear it down for a build. It has a cobra upper and lower too.
