suspension questions

I have a 66 w/289 & auto trans.
the left front tire rubs when i hit a dip in the road or sometimes on right turns. i have recently installed new springs front and rear, new upper ball joints and shocks front and rear. it only does it on the left. never a peep from the right. also when driving at highway speeds the car seems to wander. it was worse before the front end work but is still there. any sugestions are appreciated.
btw, the rims are 15x7 torq thrust II. i dont remember the tire size off hand. the tires do come out under the fenderwell flush with the outside edge.
the obvious answer is narrower wheels or different backspacing perhaps.
but why the rub only on the left? why the wander?

Sounds like you need an alignment, especially after all the suspension work done to the car.
That's the probably cause of your wander.

As for only one side rubbing, that side could have more caster and has the tire closer to the front fender opening. Another possibility is its a classic Mustang, and tolerences were not exactly job #1 back then.

And yes, the Torq thrust IIs do not come with the ideal backspacing also causing possible tire rubbing.

i misspoke when i said i did the work, i paid for the work is more accurate.
the alignment was done at the same time as all of the other work. it holds a straight line, but if you put your hands lightly on the steering wheel you can feel the car acting like it is getting nudged side to side. could it be a worn idler arm?

Could be tires as well if they're even remotely aggressive/directional or have circumferential grooves.

Most likely the toe-in is set a bit too much making the car feel skittish. Great for quick response, not great for cruising. Have the shop recheck the alignment and adjust the toe out a bit if needed. Also have them check caster/camber, which they may not have done, and may not be capable of doing, at least not competently.
