I have an 86 2.3 stang...looking at putting in a VG30ET from an 87 nissan 300zx, now - I have gotton from a friend a set of C-springs, and tokico shocks. only thing is there is no ~86 tokico listing, only 87+. should I sell the shocks and get something else that is listed as for this car, or are the tokico's workable?

anyway - the car is in good shape, and the engine/trans are sitting here...so, why not - super sleeper 400+hp turbo 3 liter.

hm

as far as i know they are the same dimensions on the outside im not positive im guessing your talking about the front struts. i see your in midlothian im in varina we did a block friday at work that was a i6 nissian i wanna say mid 80's model any ways i wouldnt mind seeing the car when your done

this will be a 3.0 V6 turbo...~200hp/tq factory, can easily push 400+ without internal mods. I used to be (kinda am still) BIG into 80's 300zx's, and stripped the majority of the one I had to put the stuff into another one I got...the bug in me died (after ~4 years) so now Im left with what hasnt sold - the planned project car - and the motor/trans. then with the money considered buying my uncles 87 GT T-top...almost did, reconsidered the amount he wanted for it, and decided otherwise! now since my grandfather has this 86 that has been off the road for nearly a year - just not needed, has a 96 v6 5 speed, and a truck...so its been sitting in the shed. body is nice, engine is under powered, and the trans is a 4 speed. SO. put a nice suspension under it, toss in a sn 95 8.8 rear, 5 lug swap/brake upgrade up front, and get the engine setup done...serious potential I feel.

---anyway, my point to the subject! I guess Im going to have to tear down the suspension and see how everything fits, and go from there. springs I know shouldnt have a problem, as long as the shocks/struts bolt up Im good!

i'm in the process of deciding what shocks springs to put on my car. its a 1993 lx 2.3. I have some Strange adjustable shocks and was going to match the struts, but the Strange site says "v8 only" on the struts. Does anyone know if there is some kind of difference in the mounting for the v8's and te 2.3's? is the spindle different and causes some issue?

i'm also noticing that the same springs wont be the same drop on the v8 car vs. the 2.3?

4cyl spindles have a thicker mount for the struts. Most aftermarket struts will work with 4cyl or V8 spindles. (V8 spindles would require shims) I have seen some Tokico struts that will only fit the thinner V8 spindles, too.

thanks....i figured this out since the post. I decided to just do the 5.0 stock spindle and brake swap on mine.....

I just got some MM full length sub frame connectors for the notch also. Can't wait to get those on...cut down on some squeeks and rattles.
