Suspension

2 questions#1 Do these cars always bottom out so easy? #2 I have a poping in the left front(sounds like anyways) when i hit the brakes or a bump or turn the steering wheel I have had someone push it up and down turn left and right while i laid under it and watched no popin any ideas? Thanks for your opinion.

is ur car lowered? if so, then depending on how low yeah... im lowered 2 inchs and dont bottom out often, but then again i baby it when going into inclined driveways, speedbumps, etc etc...

as for the popping idea, not 100% sure... those may be ur ball joints... you may be in need of some. if your vehicle is lowered, look into the steeda x2 ball joints and the steeda bumpsteer kit... could help fix any problem you got goin on...

Steve, one of the other 95's I had had similar problems...it had stock suspension but as you said, it road fine until I hit a bump and turned......what I found is that there was a break in the last spring at the bottom..it was on both sides of the car too....it was hard to see because of teh rubber at the bottom....just a idea to check.

No my car is not lowered. I think I found the popping After I looked and looked I have had it on the lift 3 times just for the popping. I think what it was is the bushings where the sway bar attaches to the frame. As for the bottomin out She is very sensitive to weight she will bottom out when im alone but she does it more when i have my suitcase in the trunk or when I have a large passenger. Does anyone know are 6 cly rear springs the same? Cause i have a donor car.

My 96 did that and found out that it was sway bar bushing and ball joint both at 60k...

I have my 95 slammed with saleen springs and x2 ball joint and i bottom out often since my car is convertible and have that underbrace thing.

But yes check the ball joint and sway bar busings.:nice:

Does it shake while driving? Besides the popping, any other noises? Is it just going over bumps and turning?

Could very possibly be an inner tie-rod.How is your steering? Is it tight? Any loose spots? Does it turn on a dime? Meaning, does it turn with the slightest movement of the wheel?

You might also want to check the tightness of your steering rack. The metal sleeves that the mounting bolts pass through will eventually start shifting when the bushings wear. This creates a loud creak or pop noise. Most noticable turning a corner at moderate speeds or shifting the wheel back and forth while sitting still ( usually once or twice after the car sat a couple hours).

Could very well be a strut issue also. But don't quote me on that.Im not positive.I'm still dealing with some issues myself.

One problem solved the popping is gone, It was the bushins that attach the front sway bar to the frame. The bottoming out is inn the rear only I have already replaced the shocks still does it, is this typical or are my springs just wore out?

Man this is a pain to figure out I have the exact same issue on my cobra I checked everything theres no play on the ball joints or the outer tie rods and everything that has to do with the suspension .I found something interesting while changing my oil the other day out of curosity I tested the steering shaft for play and it had some play more than Im used to seeing and the rack and pinion moved quite a bit too thats my next check point even though I had checked it before but I checked it this time while it was on the ramps last time I jacked up one side.Funny you mention the strut too because I had a hard time setting my camber on the left side where I hear the poping it wouldnt stay I kept moving the strut around from the strut mount.Hopefully I get this fixed too .

My car does this too, but its lowered slightly. I've got BBK lowering springs and Tokicos so if I hit a large crack in the road with both rear wheels it bottoms out every time. I bought a Maximum Motorsports bump stop that is shorter and softer to cushion the blow. I don't know how well it works yet though because my car is stored for the long cold winter.
