Swap question

why? i have both and would not dream of doing it. to retrofit a RWD set up is no easy undertaking. there aint room under the hood, from my crude eyeball (i dont know what gen eclipse you want to do this with). then stuff like a trans hump, DS tunnel, stiffening, and so on. doing a hybrid on a same set up car (i.e. RWD to RWD) is hard enough.

Is that really a question you wanted to ask in a forum like this? I mean, really. I was expecting to check this thread out and see 7 or 8 people reply about the Eclipses that they have seen with these Cobra motors in them. I would tell you it was impossible but have seen the RWD/V8 converted Focus cars and would end up being wrong or something

Well, the Eclipse did come with all wheel drive, so the set up already exists for the rear wheels to drive the car - with beefing up of course. The big problem with a conversion like that is that unless extensive mods are made to the firewall/tranny tunnel area, the engine has to be mounted so far forward that the handling would be really bad. Bring a big fat checkbook and anything's possible. Remember - there is no substitute for cubic dollars.
