Swap to beefier 5-speed, or up to a 6-speed?

You know I always looking to do things to my stang to make it unique. I mean who wants a 5.0 thats is just like everyone elses. Kinda like me wanting to put a tan interior in my fox, I have received alot of negative comments about that. But how many foxes do you know that have tan interior. Not that Many. So just to be different than the majority of the mustang crowd I would definitly go with the t-56.

TKO isn't that common either though it is a 5 speed. It really comes down to cost, practicality and strength vs. image, bragging rights and cool factor. In no way saying that the T56 can't be practical or anything to scoff at in the strength department(commonly observed to be underrated at 440ft lbs) but racing on the freeway isn't one of the foxes strongpoints though it can be done. Some day I will be putting a T56 behind my 428 because it is that damn cool...

You should really make your decisions on what part will function and/or perform best given your circumstances (current and future mods) and not just because you don't want to be like others. The fact that a lot of people run an item usually means that there is something to be said for the quality/performance/fit etc. of that item.

What tranny to go with really depends on what the person does (1/4 mile, track, highway) and how their car is set up (stock motor, built motor, race motor - in addition to rear gearing and budget).

Well yes I know. I wasnt saying that should be his whole deciding factor, but just as a factor to push him one way or the other if he couldnt make up his mind. :nice:

D&D is where I got mine. They are pretty competitive so I found them to be the cheapest I could find in a short search. Nice thing is I don't think I payed tax and shipping was around 100 bucks from them. Their customer service is great. Also save yourself some time in going to the GM dealership and getting handed two wrong synchromeshes and just get it from wherever you get the tranny.
