i have a 1992 mustang that was a 4cyl/auto, i swapped to a 5.0/t5 from an 86, trying to get it running currently. i got no spark, i have a new coil, distributor, wires and plugs but nothing. i checked wiring too. heres the deal, the 4cyl either didn't have the same coil plug or i cut it and dont remember, so i jerry rigged one from the ignition wire and pip wire. so if someone knows how to wire that coil properly please let me know. any other ideas are also appreciated.

When you're testing and you don't get the outcome that is predicted then you will need to repair and/or replace the wiring and sensors necessary to act right.

You have a 92 4cyl that you swapped a 86 V8 engine harness, does this include the computer harness?
I'm not sure about this, I guess I would start at the ignition switch looking for ignition power with the key on, you need a wiring diagram for both years to match up wiring.
Did you install the wiring?

86 V8 engine harness and 92 body harnesses aren't really plug and play. There are differences in how certain circuits are wired. How exactly was the engine harness spliced in?

you're absolutely right. the engine harness is obviously connected to the ecu, and connected all through the engine, it's then mostly connected through the starter solenoid. I'm only 18 and pretty inexperienced with this stuff so I'm learning as i go. is there something I'm missing?

yes, i did install the wiring, and if I'm being honest i didn't know there was a computer harness i just connected it through what was left of the 92 wiring. i know the ignition switch has power in run, but when it's in start it seems to cut all power that it's sending out but it is still getting power from the big yellow wires.

also, when i was pulling the harness, i thought for some reason that i needed to depin the harness, i depined about half of it before i realized i could just pull it out. i spent a lot of time repining it with a chiltons manual and doing a continuity test with a meter. it's entirely possible that i messed that up but I'm decently confident

You need an ECU harness from a 92/93 car if you want to make things a lot simpler. Do a search as there are a lot of references on properly swapping these cars.

it's okay, i got it running, it's hard to build a car with little money and a big dream, but i used what i had and i made it work. just takes time. problem was I didn't have power when cranking, i spliced wt/pnk with grn/red and it works now
