Modern Driveline told me that with the T-5z bellhousing, there is a boss on it that my current patriot tri-y headers will not clear. They recommended shortys for me to have a cable clutch.

Questions are, what are my options here, new exhaust? Or hydraulic clutch, I dont know which way to go, any advice would be appreciated.

The general consensus I've heard is that the hydraulic clutch is the best solution, both in terms of space and in terms of feel. They're expensive though.

My longtubes work fine, and I wasn't aware there was a difference between the T-5 and T-5z bellhousings.

He didn`t say there was a difference

However, he said that there was a boss that the cable linkage attaches to, so that it can activate the clutch fork. Right now I`ve got about 1/2 inch clearance between the bellhousing and my Patriot Tri-y, which is right where the boss is supposed to be.

He said they`ll set me with with hydraulic clutch for only $150 more then I was spending, I think I`ll go that way.

I would go (in fact I did) with the hydraulic setup. Everything I have read about the cable clutch is trouble with long tubes. Even if it does end up fitting, the heat from the headers eventually melts the cable and starts to sieze the clutch cable. Also, cosmetically, I never liked the way the cable droops into the engine bay. Just doesn't look clean in my opinion. That said, they are cheaper and depending on your goals and parts choices, could be the best way to go.
