T-5 Shifter Bolt Torque Specs

What is the torque spec for bolting a shifter to a T-5? I guessing it is probably somewhere around 12-15ft/lbs since it is aluminum. Also, on the clutch fork cover, once side is held in place by a clip and the other with a bolt. What is the thread size of that bolt? I'm guessing metric and small.

I follow the "good-n-tight" method. Just tighten them down and you'll be fine.

Shifter cover 6-11 ft lbs
I went with a lag bolt for the fork cover, works great.

the shop manual is quoting 6-11 lb/ft for the 4 bolts that actually lock the shifter to the top of the tranny?

i'm doing a tri-ax on a t45 this weekend.

i dont how them being alum would make a difference on torque specs.

but i use the good and tight method lol

but BE CAREFUL i have stripped them out before, its not hard to strip them out, its only a 5/16 bolt not very big. i stripped 2 of them out and ended up going back in and drilling the holes bigger and tapping the holes for a 3/8 bolt, can put more torque on them now.

so what's teh deal with aluminum anyway? i'm reading all this stuff about using anti-seize compound on the shifter handle when installing the shift knob, stripping out bolts and tightening loosely and indiscriminately.

is aluminum a soft metal, hence its low weight? i just assumed it was hella rigid; i guess i was thinking titanium.

yeah aluminum is softer than steel easier to strip out

I didn't torque mine....no problems.

The Shift Cover is the transmission top cover. The Turret Cover is the actual shifter. The torque for mounting an aftermarket shifter is probably higher also as Hurst shows 15-20 lb. ft.
