T-56 into a 99 cobra

I swapped T45 out of my 99 for a T56. Needed to get a driveshaft, speedcal, and new shfter. I had a shop rig up a cross member mount for me too. Since your probably looking at a regular T56 and not a Viper, the input shaft is 10 SPLINE just like your 99 cobra's T45, so you can use the same clutch.

I put down 576RWHP (Solid Axle too) on the T45 and she held fine. But I switched to the T56 because I figured the T45 was a weak link now and I found a used one too for a good price.

Speedcal is needed to do mechnical to electronic conversion. T56 was like 4 years old and from a 98, so I am not sure if you need a speedcal for a newer T56. Maybe some one else can answer. Or like Uncle Meat says, call D&D, I have many times with Questions.

Wow, two months later, and some valuable information shows up... I guess patience really is a virtue :D

Actually, I found a different one for around the same price that comes with the stock clutch and shifter, but I have to get the driveshaft though. I haven't heard anything about a speedcal before, but then again this t-56 is from an 04 cobra.

Any ideas as to how much a driveshaft would cost? I've found some FR aluminum ones, but I dont think they are for the 03-04 cobras... Trying to price check to see if I can find a better deal than the tranny shop what will be performing the swap.

Thanks!

Not sure the $$ I did not have to buy it. a DS came with the T56 I bought. I do think you will be OK and not need a speedcal since your T56 is probably newer coming from an 04 and mine came from a 98 and was 4 years old.
