I am trying to figure out if my traction-lok is going out.Did some searching but couldnt come up w/anything.Its a 98 auto w/4.56 gears, and 78000 miles on it.When I drove this thing in the snow, the back end was all over the place so it seemed to be working. But recently I was at a light and started to do a burnout while holding the brake and I swear only one wheel was spinning and the back end didnt move sideways at all. When I do that in my 93 or 99 the back end will start to come out as soon as they start spinning.Any help is appreciated.

do not test the T-loc during a brake stand. best way too test the T-lok is too do a burnout without the brake and if it leaves a equal strip on both sides then your ok.

the reason you dont test while holding the brake is that the brakes in the rear maybe enough too keep one of the wheels still while the other slips.. this is bad for the T-lok.. so the brake stand test give a false reading on the health of your t-lok

If you are doing the one-wheel-peel than you need new clutches in the diff. It is a very easy install. You can also repack the new clutches in a different order than stock to increase friction for better locking of the rear axles. Do a search on this forum and corral.net for more info.

he tested with a brake stand... before you replace those clutches try it out without the brakes... doing a brake stand can cause a one wheel peel. trust me on this. the correct way is too test without doing a brake stand.. you can load the converter but let go of the brakes liek your launching at the track. then go and looka t the burnout marks you left.

if you can't leave rubber get a couple of donut spares you will burn those out.. just do it long enough to get a 15 foot patch or so.
